Recorded in 2006 in the band's still shattered home town of New Orleans, the Radiators' good-natured mix of bar-band rock and R&B is colored by stark reminders of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Though songs like the title track and "Don't Pray For Me" were written some years before the hurricane, the collection's overall feel is one of loss and regret--tempered, of course, by the band's unimpeachable swing on cuts like "Desdemona" and the optimistic "Good Things."

"You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had" and "The Same Thing" did not appear on the original version of FOLK SINGER. They were recorded at a separate session in April 1964, three months after FOLK SINGER was released.
The title and cover photo of this 1963 recording were an attempt to cash in on the burgeoning American folk revival, but this is pure acoustic blues. Muddy began his career as a Robert Johnson-style solo acoustic performer, and the tunes on FOLK SINGER hark back to those days. He's accompanied ...
| | Philipp Fankhauser Talk To Me CD (2004)
Dreaming Out Loud music CDs
$13.05 Talk To Me is the title of the latest album from Philipp Fankhauser, the highly regarded blues artist based in Thun, Switzerland, and his first for Memphis International Records. Fankhauser is well known to European audiences but he is also familiar to North Americans as a result of his role as guest vocalist with the band of the late blues great Johnny "Clyde" Copeland. While the bulk of Talk To Me is comprised of l Fankhauser originals it does include two Johnny Copeland compositions and Shemekia Copeland, Johnny's daughter and a renowned star in her own right, penned the liner notes. "Philipp will always be very special to the Copeland family; ...

Dreaming Out Loud CD music
$11.35 Marc Cohn's first new studio album in nearly a decade, 2007's JOIN THE PARADE is a significant outing for the revered Ohio-born singer-songwriter, marking not only his debut on the Decca label, but his comeback from a 2005 head injury, the result of an attempted carjacking. Produced by fellow non-prolific musician Charlie Sexton, PARADE finds Cohn on familiar terrain, with his raspy voice and pensive lyrics guiding the sparse arrangements, as on the mellow, organ-tinged "Listening to Levon." While nothing on the record is quite as catchy as ...
