CD reissue of classic 1956 R&B release comes housed in a miniature LP sleeve. This was Hadda's one and only album to be recorded as a complete whole (i.e. it's not a compilation of singles and rarities) prior to her rediscovery in the 1990s. This is the first time it has been reissued in its originally released running order. . Ace's limited edition "Hip Pocket" series faithfully reproduces the artwork and design format of the original Crown album release, making it both eminently attractive and collectable. Ace.Living Blues (p.66) - "Brooks is in fine vocal form throughout, her breathy alto at times suggesting Peggy Lee..." Hadda Brooks Femme Fatale Songs | 1. | The Thrill Is Gone | |

Femme Fatale album
$12.69 While Ace's previous Hadda Brooks disc, Romance in the Dark, concentrated on her excellent mellow vocal sides, it left the instrumental boogie-woogie aspect of her musical talents unexplored. Swingin' the Boogie corrects that with this amazing release. Brooks recorded many of these tunes for the Modern label, ...

Femme Fatale CD music
$12.15 The Very Best of Earl Bostic is a 25-track overview of his jump blues and R&B instrumentals recorded for King in the late '40s and '50s. Bostic's biggest R&B hits, including "Temptation" "Flamingo," and "Sleep," are coupled with favorites like "Earl Blows a Fuse," "Rockin' and Reelin'," and one of the few vocal tracks Bostic cut, "Who Snuck the Wine in the Gravy." This Collectables ...

| | Very Best Of Jimmy Witherspoon: Miss Miss Mistreater CD (2004)
Femme Fatale songs
$13.29 Singer Jimmy Witherspoon was equally at home in both the jazz and blues genres, and he is among a handful of singers for whom the distinctions between the two are really irrelevant. Spoon recorded for an astounding number of record labels during his 50-plus year career, but he was arguably at his best when fronting a band with a crack horn section, as is the case with ...
| | Very Best Of Memphis Slim: Messin' Around With The Blues CD (2004)
Femme Fatale album
$13.29 Drawing his recording moniker of Memphis Slim from his lanky six-foot five-inch frame, blues pianist Peter Chatman was instrumental in bringing a jazzy, urban sensibility to the blues in the mid '40s. This generous 27-track collection features recordings he made between 1946 and 1948, first with Hy-Tone Records, the masters of which were purchased by King Records and released ...
| | Delmore Brothers Fifty Miles To Travel CD (2005)
Femme Fatale CD music
$14.95 This great country duo was in its prime when the material on this 24-song compilation was recorded for King from the mid-'40s to the mid-'50s. This isn't the cream of that crop, as much of that was been collected on an earlier, superior Ace anthology, Freight Train Boogie. As a secondary collection, however, it presents some always respectable and often very good hillbilly music. It concentrates on sides that hadn't previously been reissued on CD, or reissued at all, including half a dozen outtakes and alternate takes that hadn't been released anywhere, and repeating little from the Freight Train Boogie compilation. While there's some hot country boogie here, there's a little bit more weight given to folky, more traditional-sounding songs such as "Midnite Special" and "Dis Train Am Bound for Glory" than there is on the best Delmore Brothers anthologies. It's often a little more sedate and less innovative than their best King stuff, but that doesn't mean there isn't ...
