| | Phineas & Ferb Phineas and Ferb: Songs From the Hit Disney Tv Series CD (2009) Digipak
Animation Soundtrack
$10.09 For anyone hasn't watched episodes of the Disney animated series PHINEAS AND FERB, it's highly recommended. It is a Saturday morning cartoon comedy that stars two irrepressibly inventive, multi-talented mischievous nerd geniuses (who happen to be stepbrothers), their vain, hyperactive, scheming sister Candace, and their pet platypus that happens to be a secret agent fighting an evil scientist. The plots are standard, and sometimes so are the jokes, but the characters aren't. One of the show's highpoints is the music, from Bowling For Soup's theme song "Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day" (who can argue with a power pop punk song with a killer hook that states, "This could possibly be the best day ever and tomorrow could be a million and six times better..."?) There's also the dubby dancehall of "Backyard Beach," by Ferb, the electro of "S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)," and the fingerpopping faux-doowop, hip hop of "I Love You Mom," by Candace. While it's true that all of this ...

| | John Lennon Imagine CD (1988) Original Soundtrack; SDTK
Animation Soundtrack
$12.95 The John Lennon legacy was furthered and deepened by the film IMAGINE, a documentary that captured post-Beatles Lennon in moments both public and candid, at various points in his development as a solo artist. There are fascinating clips of him at work in the studio, scenes in which he acts upon his political beliefs with bed-ins and the like, and frank interviews. The inevitable soundtrack to the film is more than just a cash-in designed to appeal to rabid Beatles collectors who pay a king's ransom for Ringo's fingernail clippings, though. The album collects some of the finest musical moments from the film and turns them into an ...
| | Pulp Fiction CD (1994) Original Soundtrack
Animation Soundtrack
$11.59 This collector's edition contains 4 additional tracks plus a bonus interview disc with director Quentin Tarantino.
Pumped with the same sweaty adrenaline as the movie, the soundtrack for PULP FICTION is an audio example of why director Quentin Tarantino was the most talked-about filmmaker of the 1990s. Meshing snippets of dialogue with a diverse and powerful soundtrack, PULP FICTION is dripping with the same seedy tension that characterizes Tarantino's films.
There are moments of elegance too. Al Green's luxurious "Let's Stay Together" and Dusty Springfield's throaty "Son of a Preacher Man" show that the heart of a romantic beats behind ...
| | Neil Diamond Jazz Singer CD (1980)
Animation Soundtrack
$6.75 Neil Diamond's revisiting of the 1927 Al Jolson classic THE JAZZ SINGER (the first film to feature synchronized sound) keeps to the story of the original film; a young Jewish man turns his back on his heritage in an attempt to make it big in show business. Naturally, Diamond penned the music for his version of THE JAZZ SINGER himself, and the soundtrack was a phenomenal commercial success. Three of the songs here should be instantly familiar to anyone who drew a breath in the early '80s: the tender ballad "Hello Again," the haunting, swirling "Love On the Rocks," and the swelling patriotism of "America."
In between are the hand-clapping groovers "You Baby" and "Amazed and Confused," the melancholic waltz of "Summerlove," and traditional Jewish songs like "Kol Nidre." Elaborate instrumentation and arrangements (the songs are richly outfitted with strings) add to the surge and power of Diamond's performances, and while the film itself may have faded into obscurity, the soundtrack has not. THE JAZZ SINGER remains one of Diamond's best-loved post-'70s efforts.
THE JAZZ SINGER is the soundtrack to the movie of the same title. Also available in a 3-pack with CLASSICS: THE EARLY YEARS (1966-1967) and BEAUTIFUL NOISE.
Originally released on Capitol (46026).
Neil Diamond Band: Neil Diamond, Linda Press (vocals); Tom Hensley (conductor, piano, keyboards); Alan Lindgren (conductor, piano, synthesizer); Richard Bennett (acoustic & electric guitars); Doug Rhone (guitar, background vocals); ...
