$11.49 Seatown to Killa Cali. There's a fine line between adventure and humility. Boldness and patience. Balance and chaos. K-KAL's message speaks of survival, and growth through adversity. Through real situations, and social reflections, he breaks down generalizations to get to the heart of true character. Always interested in music, K-KAL did what he could to further his skill. Piano, guitar, drums!didn't matter, as a kid he hit them all. With an equal amount of country roots and big city hustle, he was never been afraid to get his hands dirty. His far reaching attitude had many of his friends saying 'Ok Kal'! Thus giving him his name. K-KAL's first break came in 2002 when MTV, approached him for a TV show called "Living the Dream". They liked his blind courage in moving to Los Angeles, from the Seattle area to pursue his music career. At the time K-KAL was working with different artists he was documented for a month by a nine-person camera crew. From show performances, to parties, studio time, and of course joint smoking moments of enlightenment, they wanted to show what this artist were doing to make it in the music biz. In the end MTV gave the green light instead to another show called 'Making the Band'. Still the real camera experience, and constant interviewing gave K-KAL a leg up in showmanship. 'You either get it or you don't', he says, 'but if you like the taste, you cant get enough'. This experience rewarded K-KAL with new connections and perspective, as he continued towards ...

$16.45 Hello CD Baby Friends,Thank you for checking out my website, and I hope you all enjoy what you see and hear. Since this is the bio section, here is some info on me:I am a New York based Trombonist. I live in Brooklyn, New York. I play Valve Trombone, and Slide Trombone.I was raised in Huntington, New York, born in 1960. Early on, I was exposed to jazz music, because my dad is a jazz drummer, born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. who idolized Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Phil Woods, Stan Getz, Bob Brookmeyer, and many others, not to mention all the great drummers of the day. So before I was even born and throughout my early childhood, I was listening to these musicians as well as J.J. Johnson, Oscar Peterson, Horace Silver, Keith Jarret, Blue Mitchell, and Buddy Rich and his big band. These and many others continue to shape my musical development to this day, since I am a primarily self taught musician. I started on drums, like my dad, and I went to a lot of his jobs, so I heard live music early on. I also played Trumpet and Baritone Horn. In the late 70s, My family moved to L.A. I stayed for 15 years, and went to junior college there, and soon after I met up with, recorded, and/or and played with Jay Anderson, John Patitucci, Charlie Haden, Scott Colley, Andy Simpkins, Frank Strazzeri, Billy Childs, Diana Krall, Terry Trotter, Terry Gibbs, Bob Cooper, Don Menza, Jack Sheldon, Al Hirt, Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, Shorty Rogers, Conte Condoli, Chet Baker, Freddie Hubbard, Louis Bellson, Albert Tootie Heath, Billy Higgins, Dick Berk, Peter Erskine, Peter Donald, Nick Ceroli, David Hocker, Bill Watrous, Bill Reichanbach Larry Koonse, Frank Gambale, and other great musicians who lived there. In 1987, I received an award in honor of the late drummer, Shelly Manne, called the New Talent Award, given by the L.A. Jazz Society. Others who received the award are Cecelia Coleman, Eric Reed, Scott Colley, Gerald Clayton, and Larry Koonse. I loved playing with the older guys, many of which have passed on. They played so melodically and influenced how I approach soloing. Again, I must thank my dad who listened and played so much great music. Those great musicians will always be an inspiration for me. In 1992, after meeting my wife, bassist MaryAnn McSweeney, I moved back to New York, and have performed/recorded with a wide variety of musicians, They include:Deodato, Mike Brecker, Randy Brecker, Tom Harrell, ...

$12.65 Shift – Moving Celtic MusicDriving reels, melodic jigs and heartfelt songsShift has been an active part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Celtic music scene for a little over two years. Despite this short tenure, Shift has generated a considerable and enthusiastic base of support from local, national, and international musicians and music lovers alike. The three band members draw from their backgrounds in traditional music and lend their talents to this trio's exhilarating blend of tunes and songs.Jason Huntley's fiddle rips and roars through fast-paced instrumentals, while taking on softer, melancholic tones for slow airs and songs. He gives voice to songs that range from rousing pub sing-alongs to love-lorn bluegrass numbers. The guitar playing of Emily Bryant provides the dynamic rhythmic undertone that sets the mood for the band. Her vocals offer a warm, gentle, folksy sound that compliments songs, old and new.The percussive rhythms of the traditional Irish bodhran are brought to life by Scottish drummer Craig Scotland. Not only does he keep up with Jason's fast paced fiddling, but Craig’s drum is the pulse that drives the music.Jason Huntley was raised in rural Iowa and grew up playing both piano and violin. While classically trained, it was his grandfather’s Monday night Irish fiddle lessons that had the strongest influence. Jason spent most summers at bluegrass, old time, and Irish music festivals in the Midwest. Among Jason's ...
