| | Desert City Soundtrack Contents Of Distraction CD (2002)
Jackass Number Two Soundtrack album
$12.95 Some records just leave you scratching your head; this record falls firmly in that category. On Contents of Distraction, Desert City Soundtrack's sound is a disjointed blend of stately piano playing, loud and atonal guitars, and yowling vocals -- a sort of unholy conjunction of Bruce Hornsby playing with Sonic Youth featuring David Yow on vocals. It is a pretty unique sound, but not a very listenable one. Tracks like the opening "What to Do in Case of Fire" or the sprawling "Widow's Staircase" aim for epic heights, but are let down by the truly silly, howling vocals. One track, "Murderhearts," features more subdued singing and is a touch more listenable (the horns near the end help, too), but ...
| | Robbie Laws River City Blues CD (2003)
Jackass Number Two Soundtrack CD music
$13.39 Renowned for his prowess on electric guitar, River City Blues is a landmark in Robbie Laws' career. His song writing, vocal, and instrumental versatility are showcased in this powerful mix of original and traditional acoustic blues. "The first album from Robbie Laws in several years marked a surprising change in direction for the Portland, Ore., guitar hero: River City Blues is all acoustic, all solo. Laws' acoustic playing is impressive, with chiming harmonics accenting the title track, snappy chords and thumping ...
| | Summer Stock - In The Good Old Summertime Summer Stock/In The Good Old Summertime CD (2001) Original Soundtrack
Jackass Number Two Soundtrack music CDs
$21.15 While the soundtrack and score for most any "classic"MGM musical would be welcome, the two particular films featured on this disc are also notable as the final pair to include Judy Garland, who had starred in a total of 28 features and five cinematic shorts during her 15-year affiliation with the venerable studio. In the Good Old Summertime was initially to have starred June Allyson and Frank Sinatra. However, studio brass felt that the primary vocalist role of Veronica Fisher would best be suited to Garland and that the support characterization of Andrew Larkin might be served more efficiently by an actor -- who could also sing. The seven tracks that feature Garland include her solo vocals on "Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland," "Merry Christmas," "I Don't Care," and the outtake "Last Night When We Were Young." This CD also captures the lead vocal efforts from Van Johnson and the King's Men barbershop quartet, as well as the instrumental violin ...
