Black & White; Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Remastered BABY FACE: Get a glimpse of Hollywood at the height of its pre-Production Code licentiousness in BABY FACE. Barbara Stanwyck takes the easy way from the speakeasy on the bottom floor to the penthouse executive suite of a New York office building, leaving behind a trail of discarded men in her wake.
WATERLOO BRIDGE: Based on the play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert E. Sherwood, WATERLOO BRIDGE stars Vivien Leigh as Myra, a shy ballerina whose life is irrevocably altered in war-torn London. It's love at first sight when Myra meets handsome, aristocratic British officer Roy Cronin (Robert Taylor) in the midst of an air raid. The couple soon plans to wed, but Cronin is called to the front, and shortly thereafter a newspaper reports his death. Forced out of ballet school, alone and destitute, Myra turns to prostitution. When she discovers that the newspaper report was inaccurate, Myra is unable to tell Cronin about her secret life, and tragedy ensues. This 10-handkerchief weeper was directed by Mervyn LeRoy. Joseph Ruttenberg's photography is beautiful, as is the inspired soundtrack by Herbert Stothart (THE WIZARD OF OZ), but what makes WATERLOO BRIDGE is Leigh's stunning performance and the very real chemistry between her and Robert Taylor.
RED HEADED WOMAN: Jean Harlow stars as Lil, a red-headed temptress who forces Bill (Chester Morris) to leave his wife for her in this shocker from 1932. But Lil isn't satisfied with seducing Bill away from his marital bliss, and embarks on a string of affairs that must have made for unsettling viewing back in the day. $16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins ...
