Catfish Rising album Product Description
Catfish Rising album by Jethro Tull was released Nov 21, 2006 on the EMI Music Distribution label. A year after winning a Grammy Award for best metal album--an award that was the occasion for much mirth in the critical community--Jethro Tull returned with an album that nobody would ever mistake for metal but nonetheless rocked harder and more authoritatively than anything the group had recorded in years. Catfish Rising songs Although leader/flute guy Ian Anderson sounds rather more Lennonesque than one remembers, guitarist Martin Barre's riffing and slide work recall the band's early '70s heyday, while the new songs (check out "Sparrow on the Schoolyard Wall") manage to split the difference between Tull's English folk and blues roots with alacrity. A keeper.2006 issued digitally remastered edition of the band's 1991 offering that featured some of the more regular Tull band members alongside some not so regular Tull members - Dave Pegg was on tour with Fairport Convention for some of the recording so his son Matt took over bass duties at those times! Keyboards were also handled by an array of musicians for this recording. "Catfish Rising" has been referred to as Tull's best album from the 1990's, filled with raw energy and enthusiasm. Catfish Rising CD music contains a single disc with 15 songs. ...See Full Description

| new remastered catfish rising cd I would highly recommend this version. clear, crisp Tull. d By cale_walters (ST Louis, MO, USA) |
| Rising a little Not as good as "Crest of a Knave" or "Roots to Branches" but this bluesy Tull outing is nice for a change of pace. Good but not essential. By Steve G (NYC, NY) |
| One of Ian's best creations I've been a Tull fan for over 30 years and this album is one my most cherished. I saw them perform this whole album a few years back to promote it, and it certainly deserves a five star rating! A geat mix of songs! By a reviewer (raleigh,n.c.) | not a lot of inspiration, but it´s funny! This is not one of those JT albums you may consider a great one from the first to the last note. But songs like "Rocks On The Road" and "Roll Yer Own" are good, anyway. By zdraw (Ribeirao Preto, SP, Brazil) This review is for a different format. |
| A long album, but another masterpiece! Take time to listen to this album. You will become a "Tull" fan for shure! Great lyrics and music from the master himself, Ian Anderson. Martin Barre is one of the all time great guitar players!A lot of acoustic and electric guitar playing! This album is a big suprise! By sagaman (Indpls. Ind.) This review is for a different format. |
