| | Five Bolt Main Live CD Five Bolt Main Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
Having risen from the ashes of Flaw in early 2005, Five.Bolt.Main released their debut album, Venting, late that year. But before the bells rang in 2006, over half the band bolted on the eve of their tour. At this point, three members of Main's opening act, Alston, stepped into the breach, in what now is obviously a permanent realignment. Considering the upheaval, it was probably wise to keep the band on the road throughout 2006. This kept sales of Venting ticking over while introducing the new lineup to fans around the country. And it also gave Main the opportunity to record Live, which basically re-presents Venting on-stage. But that's only the half of it, for the new Main are harder, edgier, and more aggressive than the old lineup, soldering metal to their former sound. Even so, "Broken Compasses"'s majestic passages still flood forth, "Slip" sounds even Cream-ier, and "Seem to Be Fine" is awash in emotion. All told, the band perform eight of Venting's tracks, then toss in two new numbers, the metal-goes-melodic "Just My Luck" and the moodily atmospheric ballad "Only the Strong." Fans of the early lineup and their debut album now have fair warning of which way the band's heading, it may be too nu-metal for some, but surely not for lovers of the harder end of rock. ~ Jo-Ann Greene

Five Bolt Main Live Songs Live Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Amazing Great live cd, i'm not sure of quality live cds but this portrays a great band. I've been a great fan of chris volz since flaw and five bolt main are just as good. If you like a great melodic voice, lyrics and some metal riffs than five bolt main is for you! great band, great cd! Submitted by shredder_14 (Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Venting On Stage While a live album seems a little 'unnecessary' after just one studio album, it was a welcome release to help keep us Five Bolt Main fans occupied until they release another album (if they do that is). Overall the sound quality on this recording sounds a little muddy and raw, however that is to be expected since they were not performing in a large arena with a good sound system. It is also a shame that the songs "Bid Farewell", "Breathing", "Descending" and "Life Of Mine" were not included, but for the songs that you do get here, it was a satisfying set. Personally I think their performance of "Seem To Be Fine" as well as the awesome acoustic cover of Flaw's "Only The Strong" were the album's highlights. Of course it is also worth mentioning that the new song called "Just My Luck" sounds like it would be a promising inclusion on a follow-up album (however it's future is now uncertain since rumors have began popping up and stating that Flaw is now getting back together to record a new album....which, in my opinion, would be fantastic!). If you buy LIVE without expecting a top quality concert recording though then it provides an interesting experience to hear how Five Bolt Main transfers their great songs off of their debut album VENTING onto the stage. Purchase Live CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Mike Bloomfield Super Session CD (1968) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Live album
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good licks and producer Kooper has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, as in the over-the-top phasing he lavishes on "You Don't Love Me." The only real disappointment here is that Stills, a far better singer than Kooper, never opens his mouth.
Those familiar with the Live Adventures album these two recorded at the Fillmore West know how brilliant they could be on stage, and here's another gem, recorded at the Fillmore East this time and featuring 'One Way Out,' 'It's My Own Fault' (with Bloomfield trading licks with Johnny Winter...Johnny was signed to Columbia after this gig!). Newly remastered & now with 4 bonus tracks, 'Albert's Shuffle' (2002 Remix w/o Horns), 'Season of the Witch.' (2002 Remix w/o Horns), 'Blues For Nothing' (Studio Outtake) ...

| | Lamb Of God - Killadelphia DVD (2005)
Live music CDs
$9.69 Metal band Lamb of God may hail from Richmond, Virginia, but their dark brand of melodic thrash pits them squarely in the midst of the European (and mostly Scandinavian) death-metal tradition. KILLADELPHIA captures the band performing live at Philadelphia's Trocadero in October 2004 for 15 tracks of pure metal fury (including six from their major-label debut ASHES OF THE WAKE) as well as behind-the-scenes footage from their world tour. Songs include "Laid ...
| | Dimebag Darrell - Dimevision 1: That's The Fun I Have DVD (2006)
Live songs
$12.35 This retrospective look at the career of former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell is a welcome addition to the canon of material that the celebrated star left behind. Featuring archival footage of the young Darrell in action, as well as scenes from the heady days of Pantera's enormous success, DIVISION is a comprehensive overview of a much-missed figure in the heavy metal scene.
Welcome to "Dimevision" - a magical kingdom where music, mayhem & mirth merge in a miraculous & mind-blowing manner. In my humble opinion, Dime was, is and always will be Metal's Walt Disney - a dude dedicated to bringing joy into other people's lives. The only difference? In Dime World the music is always crushingly cool, there are no f**kin' lines, each ride's a hellraiser & there's an open bar on every goddamned one!So grab a case of Coors Light, a batch ot Dime's infamous Black Tooth Grins (Seagrams 7 with a splash of coke) and some good buds (including some green ones, if you've got 'em), then hit the lights, crank-up that TV and strap yourself in for the ride of your life. "That's The Fun I Have" is packed full of unseen photos + footage of Dime tearing it up on and off stage as only he could - you'll laugh yer ass off at his antics and your jaw will drop at his breathtaking fretboard brilliance ... I guaran-damn-tee it!Dime lives on in all of us & thanx to "Dimevision" & "Rebel Meets Rebel" he's back ...
| | Ministry Rio Grande Blood CD (2007) Digipak
Live album
$11.39 Another salvo in Ministry's unrelenting aural assault on the policies of George W. Bush, 2007's RIO GRANDE DUB, as the title implies, presents spacious dub versions of the searing industrial-metal songs from RIO GRANDE BLOOD. Remixed by John Bechdel and Clayton Worbeck, these tracks often prove to be more dynamic than the originals, as revealed on the echo-laden, sample-heavy, and aggressive Rio Grande Dubya mix of the original album's title song.
After the fierce, politically charged HOUSES OF THE MOLE and its companion piece, RANTOLOGY, Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen launches another anti-George W. Bush sonic invective with RIO GRANDE BLOOD. Amazingly, this 2006 outing manages to be even more scathing than the aforementioned releases, due to yet another round of strategically placed ...
| | Cute Is What We Aim For Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch CD (2006)
Live CD music
$11.55 Buffalo-based emo-pop quartet Cute Is What We Aim For serves up familiar-sounding powerchords, punchy drums, and soaring hook-filled choruses. Also familiar is the band's tongue-in-cheek wordplay and their penchant for whine-centric, emo-styled vocals. Yet the band has a smarter, wryer sensibility than many of their contemporaries, and racked up an impressive online buzz before the release of their debut, 2006's SAME OLD BLOOD RUSH WITH A NEW TOUCH. Produced by Panic! At ...

| | Elend World In Their Screams CD (2007)
Live music CDs
$9.85 The always fascinating French duo Elend create stormy, neoclassical goth-scapes in various shades of grey, supported by the occasional piercing soprano and the excellent musicianship of a chamber orchestra. Their seventh album, released in 2007, is the coup de grace of their compelling Winds Cycle trilogy. With pieces like "Waves of Blood," "I Touched the Borders of Death," and "I Gathered Your Members," it would be unwise to expect a good-time party record, but for mood-making ...
