| | Dream Theater When Dream & Day Unite CD (1989) Germany; Originally Released in 1989
Early Memories
$13.95 Originally released on Mechanic (42259). All tracks have been digitally remastered. WHEN DREAM & DAY UNITE, the major label debut from prog-metal act Dream Theater, includes the tracks "YTSE Jam" and "Only A Matter Of Time." Dream Theater's first official release gave an indication that this was a talented band that combined the styles of Yes, Rush, and Queensrÿche. The latter seemed to be too big of an influence at this stage of their career. Vocalist Charlie Dominici's voice is not powerful enough to carry out the band's otherwise convincing intensity, and his attempt to sound like Queensrÿche's Geoff Tate was unsuccessful. The music here is not as heavy as it would become in the '90s but could still be classified as progressive metal. Guitarist John Petrucci and drummer Mike Portnoy established themselves as competent musicians, but their individual styles were not yet refined. ...

| | Selena Dreaming Of You CD (1995) Bonus Tracks; Limited Edition; Remastered; Enhanced CD
Early Memories
$11.29 With Bonus Tracks & Videos. 1998
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Released in 1995, the same year she was tragically shot, DREAMING OF YOU was the first of Selena's posthumous releases. Prior to her death, Selena had been something of a cultural icon in Latino communities, admired as much for her status as a positive cultural role model as for her breezy, catchy dance-pop. Like many of Selena's albums, DREAMING OF YOU balances ballads with bouncy, Latin-inflected grooves, a combination that had gained her popularity with young Latino listeners and traditional Tejano fans alike. The news of the singer's death brought her music to wider attention among North American audiences, so the album struck a chord across different cultural communities, a fact reinforced, no doubt, by the album's mix of Spanish and English lyrics, and her duet with David Byrne on "God's Child." Most of America ...

| | Blues Of Otis Spann/Cracked Spanner Head CDs (2005) (Import) Spanish; United Kingdom
Early Memories
$21.29 Two sixties albums, both recorded in London for the Decca and Deram labels by Muddy Waters' pianist Otis Spann. Features a range of top British Blues players including Muddy himself on Cracked Spanner Head.
Personnel: Otis Spann (vocals, piano); Spit James, McKinley Morganfield (guitar); Steve Gregory (tenor saxophone); Roderick M Lee (trumpet); Little Willie Smith (drums). Audio Remasterer: Andrew Thompson . Liner Note Author: Tony Russell. On the one hand, it makes sense that The Blues of Otis Spann and Cracked Spanner Head should be packaged together in a double-disc set, and on the other, it makes no sense at all, since they are essentially the exact same album. Blues was recorded in England with Otis Spann on piano and vocals, Little Willie Smith on drums, Ransom Knowling on bass, and an uncredited Muddy Waters on guitar (Waters is simply listed as "Brother" in the liner notes), and was released in 1964. Aside from a couple of ill-advised harpsichord boogies, ...
