"It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Country Song. The song was also nominated for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals.
Anyone who earns a second volume of GREATEST HITS has obviously learned a thing or two about staying power and consistency of artistic vision. Such is the case with Alan Jackson, who appeared in the 1990s as mainstream country's alternative to the dominance of King Garth. His sound was still eminently accessible, but the faux-Springsteen drama of Kiss fan Garth's rock manque was eschewed for a more roots-oriented ...

| | Hot Vegas Migration CD (2007)
Sam Mellon And The Skylarks album
$10.15 A wise man once said “we must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.” hot vegas, a four piece rock band out of Charlotte, North Carolina, seem to have done just that on their first full length album, Migration. The word migration is defined as an unwillingness to permanently settle in one location. After releasing their EP, This One's For Desire, in early 2005, Andrew X (vocals/guitar), Alex Stewart (guitar), Daniel Henderson (bass) and Austin Eller (drums) embarked on a musical expedition with no specific destination in mind. “The music we make is just what comes out,” says Austin. “We just play what we feel.” The result is an emotionally charged and commercially appealing sound that many have referred to as “a breath of fresh air.” The songs on Migration not only possess genuine sincerity, but also a refreshing originality that dares to challenge an industry in which cookie cutter is the norm. “Most of the songs on Migration are about our own personal experiences,” concedes Andrew. “I think it would be very unfair to pick just one song off the record that defines us because they all define us. We created all of them.” hot vegas has been likened to some of the most innovative bands of all time. Recently referred to as “what Coldplay could sound like with balls” by Emotional Punk Magazine, their soaring melodies and inspired vocals are most comparable to the iconic sound and feel of U2. Although some elements of their musical influences can be heard in their songs, hot vegas effortlessly manages to create a signature style that is representative of who they are and what they stand for as a band. “We are definitely influenced by other artists,” explains Alex, “but I think too many bands end up pigeon holing themselves or end up looking like some sort of tribute band to another act when they try too hard to emulate those influences. I think we are more influenced by every day life and our experiences than anything else.” hot vegas has toured throughout the United States, playing alongside acts such as Cartel, Gym Class Heroes, Sherwood and Limbeck to name a few. “We’ve played so many shows,” recalls Andrew. “Good ones, bad ones, ones we ...

Sam Mellon And The Skylarks music CDs
$15.19 Richard Smith was born in Beckenham, Kent, England in 1971 and started playing guitar at age 5 under the instruction of his father. Concentrating initially on the music his father loved – the country picking of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis – young Richard digested everything he heard, learning the most complicated of tunes with ease and confounding everyone with his dexterity. Not only did he possess amazing physical skill, but a photographic musical memory as well. Often, a single hearing was all it took to get a piece under his fingers.Richard first met his hero, the “Godfather” of fingerstyle guitar, Chet Atkins, when he was only eleven. Richard was invited by Chet to play with him on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London in front of an audience of 1,000. He played Chet’s arrangement of “Whispering,” and Chet played along with him. The audience was so enraptured with Richard that Chet asked him to play another tune. Chet sat in stunned silence while Richard played Chet’s arrangement of “Little Rock Getaway” – perfectly. Chet was too amazed to even play along! By the time he reached his early twenties, both Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed began to refer to Richard Smith as their “Hero”.Richard has toured the world, surprising audiences everywhere with his genius, showcasing a repertoire spanning an incredible range of musical styles from country, bluegrass, mainstream jazz, modern pop and rock, to classical guitar. In 1999, Richard married the lovely and accomplished American cellist Julie Adams, and settled in Nashville, TN. Shortly thereafter Richard went to Winfield, KS and became the 2001 National Fingerstyle Guitar champion. Richard and Julie now tour the U.S. and the world as a duo to rave reviews. Aaron Till is a Native of Florida. Starting on the guitar at a young age, Aaron was captivated by the sounds of Merle Travis’ alternating bass style, as well as Big Band orchestras, classic rock and some of the pop music of the day. Aaron graduated to bluegrass, swing and fiddle tunes, and at fifteen, took up the fiddle. In these genres he studied the masterful fiddling of such luminaries as Vassar Clements, Bobby Hicks, Mark O’Connor, Stephane Grappelli, and many others. Aaron moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1995, and is in high demand for recording sessions and as a sideman. In the bluegrass world he has worked with J.D. Crowe, Jim and Jesse, Joe Issacs, The ...
