$14.38 The latest album from Swedish doom rockers Katatonia, their first studio effort since 2006, is as moody and beautiful as their other latter-day work. Bike album
$11.19 Released without the usual flurry of hype, Before I Self Destruct fulfills 50 Cent's contractual obligation to the Interscope label. It also doubles as a throwback album, returning the rapper to the hunger and hatred of his early mixtapes while skillfully recasting him as a wannabe upstart. That is, for the most part. The four radio-friendly bedroom numbers that conclude the album are out of place but fairly good to dime-piece beautiful, with the best being the Ne-Yo showcase "Baby by Me" ("Have a baby by me, baby/Be a millionaire"). As pleasing as these final numbers are, if you leave the room after the macho bruiser "I Got Swag" ...

Bike songs
$7.99 Miles' music has one goal, to make you smile while we make you move. Whether laying on the back-beat or driving it through your living room, this music is made to keep feet tapping and your soul at ease. On their 5-Song EP, "Wow And Flutter" they show you just how many good times you can pack into a four minute groove. It began as a boy (Marc) with a guitar (Marc's Guitar) and a dream (yup...Marc's dream). To play songs that people could move too, but that were still as much fun to play as they were to listen to. Having been trained from a young age in the ways of the classical and jazz saxophone, Marc was no stranger to musical theory, and taking from a vast array of influences, started to compose tunes that mixed this love of pop with some of the more learned influences from the jazz world. Enter the band... All residents of Millburn, NJ, and it's High School Jazz Band, the members of miles all knew each other well, having played in many previous contexts ranging from Jazz Combos to Rock Bands to Klezmer Ensembles (no joke...), but it was not until the fall of 2005 that these four guys got up on the same stage and made the dream (yes...Marc's dream) truly come alive. Since that day, miles has been constantly moving forward. After the production and release of their EP, "Wow and Flutter", Miles has balanced the large distance that separates it's members and continued to gig in any way possible. Thus, if you catch a show, you may see all four guys, ...
| | Jen Woodhouse Woodhouse,Jen Vol. 1-2-Shaping & Shifting Of Objects & Sound CD (2007)
Bike album
$22.79 While other little girls dreamt of being princess brides, mermaids, or fairies, Jen Woodhouse performed in her parents' living room in front of a captivated audience made up of her two younger sisters, various stuffed animals, and Barbie dolls. Whether she was performing in ballet and piano recitals, or just hula dancing for the neighbors, it was apparent at a very early age that Jen was a born entertainer. Since her sold out living room concerts, Jen continues to mesmerize audiences across the globe. These days, Woodhouse has been keeping busy. A recent Nashville transplant, Woodhouse has been ceaselessly touring and promoting her highly anticipated album, "The Shaping & Shifting of Objects & Sound." Quickly garnering tremendous word-of-mouth support, Woodhouse's sophomore album follows on the heels of her critically acclaimed 2005 debut, "This Honest Age." A collection of cleverly spun tales of realism that relate to the many sides of the persona, "The Shaping & Shifting of Objects & Sound" has many highlights, including the hooky, energetic pop gem, "Rearview," the moody, ethereal piano-driven, "Gravity," and the territorial, rollicking, tongue-in-cheek "Vicious.” "Impossible", one of the album’s standout tracks, combines tripped-out guitars with a quirky Imogen Heap-tinged keyboard groove. Live instruments (piano, drums and bass) mingle with electronic elements while Woodhouse's voice is powerful yet heart-wrenchingly sincere. Woodhouse ...

| | Lumpy CD (2007)
Bike music CDs
$15.19 People assume that Lumpy got its name from a character in the old Leave It To Beaver TV series. That would be convenient and amusing, but the truth is more of a side effect than a direct hit.Tom is music reporter with The Province, a Vancouver daily newspaper. He was writing a memorial for Erik Nissen, the man who managed NAL where the as yet unnamed band regularly rehearsed. In his memorial to a supportive man who had died of a combined stroke and heart attack, Tom described the music coming out of each rehearsal studio until he reached one where some lumpy 50 year old men were playing their favorite rock songs.“That’s us, isn’t it,” various members exclaimed after reading this part of the memorial. Thus Lumpy. The band formed so Bill could learn to play guitar. The strategy was simple. Rather than read from a book or take lessons, he would sink or swim with experienced musicians. He called on Vern Beamish , Bruce Faulkner, Ron Hyslop and Ron Moores, who used the time to drink beer. Tom came in to sing in order for Bill, who had sung in a previous band, to concentrate on his playing. Late 70s punk rock was their entry to performing rock and roll but collectively the six players had a formidable knowledge of rock that stretched back to its beginning. It started, as most bands do, by kicking around a few old favorites. Eventually, at Vern’s insistence, ...
