Ben Sherman, born in 1959, took up the guitar at age twelve and hasn't stopped since. Ben debuted his recording career with FIRST LIGHT , his 1998 independent release- a critically praised showcase for Ben's guitar talents. The range of styles represented on this CD are the result of Ben's lifelong passion for the guitar in all its diversity, and his relentless pursuit of excellence. Ben grew up listening to jazz, studying classical music and teaching himself rock and roll. Ben has racked up countless nights of gigs over the last 25 years with some of the best musicians in the Maryland region, in just about every style of music. In FIRST LIGHT, Ben delivers a superb set of all instrumental originals, clearly showing the influence of Steve Morse, Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, and more. It also features a Michael Hedges-inspired acoustic solo on the title track, and a lush multi-tracked rendition of Steve Hackett's "Horizons." Music Monthly Magazine selected Ben's "Chickenfish" for inclusion on its 1998 regional music compilation CD, MUSIC MONTHLY MUSIC.REVIEWS:JAZZ GUITAR ONLINE:"Fans of rock/fusion/eclectic guitar need to check this one out.Stop by Ben's website and let him know JGO sent you! First Light album
$19.10 NEVER A DULL MOMENT picks up where EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY left off. Here we have more raucous rock & roll with healthy dollops of soul and twang thrown in for good measure. Always looking for a good songwriter to cover, Stewart's honorees here include Jimi Hendrix ("Angel"), Dylan ("Mama You Been On My Mind"), and Rod's personal hero, Sam Cooke ("Twistin' The Night Away"). Sidling up nicely next to these heartfelt interpretations are some of Stewart's finest original ...

| | Tom Waits Glitter And Doom Live CDs (2009) Digipak
First Light music CDs
$13.84 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings ...

| | Daughtry Leave This Town CD (2009)
First Light album
$12.99 When he was recording his debut album in 2006, Chris Daughtry didn't have the time to assemble the real rock band he so desperately wanted to have, so it appeared under the band name Daughtry without featuring any of the musicians who later became part of the group. That's not the case with LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry's second record: all five members are glowering on the album cover, floating like specters over an abandoned Californian street. The five rockers serve as visual evidence that Daughtry is a band, not a person, and such reminders may be necessary because LEAVE THIS TOWN doesn't differ much in feel or form from DAUGHTRY. Overall, LEAVE THIS TOWN isn't ...

First Light songs
$7.19 In the summer of '98, Rob graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park. In a mire of post-graduate lack of direction, Rob fiddled away at his guitar, which he had started playing as a senior in high school, and ended up writing his first song. He liked it. He wrote a few more. He liked those. They made him feel good. Life was... better.About a year later, Rob got involved in auto racing. One week before his first event in a rally car, he sat down with a friend who had some recording equipment and recorded some of his songs in case he hurt himself and couldn't play anymore... sort of like a musical insurance plan. The race went well and without incident, and soon after Rob let a couple friends check out the songs he had recorded. ...
