Ever wondered what would happen if you could combine Janis Joplin, Waylon Jennings and Joan Baez into one performer? Ever wondered what equal parts "Country" and "UFO" would create? Look no further than Lacy J. Dalton. She's one of the most instantly recognizable voices in music - the woman People magazine called "Country's Bonnie Raitt." From the first time Lacy J. Dalton caught the public's ear, that soulful delivery, full of texture and grit, was a mainstay of country music. When you sit down to listen to a Lacy J. Dalton album, you find yourself pulled in by the very power and heart of this vocalist, because she's not merely performing a ten-song set, she's bringing each and every tune to life.Lacy J. Dalton's music is a product of her wide-ranging musical tastes. She was born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, into a family of music lovers. Her father played a variety of stringed instruments, sang and wrote songs. Her mother played guitar and sang harmony, and her sister was a pianist. Lacy's early influences were the folk and rock sounds of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. She's always been a writer and artist who loved music with a message and lyrics that somehow brought a new awareness to the listener. She retains this love of material with a purpose, and her songwriting reflects that appreciation. Her latest album "The Last Wild Place Anthology" is Lacy's first move back to her singer-songwriter roots since leaving Nashville, and showcases Lacy's remarkable voice and writing talents at their finest. The music is heartfelt, acoustic-based, Americana/Folk and ranges from the quiet introspective to the rollicking good time. NEW! Now includes 5 new recordings of Lacy's biggest hits!Lacy is an innovative and creative artist with a great deal of real-life experience and an earthy honesty that is reflected in her work. Her voice: captivating. Her songs: spellbinding. Does that sound corny? Sure it does! But don't you owe it to yourself to find out what "a little bit country, a little bit UFO" is all about? Last Wild Place: Anthology album
$9.49 Varese Sarabande's 12 Classics is not a collection of Ed Bruce's original hits. As explained in small type on the back cover, this collection "contains new recordings of Ed Bruce's greatest hits, recorded April 1997," so it's not really a good substitution for Varese's regrettably out of print 18-track 1995 collection The Best of Ed Bruce, although most of these 12 songs were on that collection of 1975-1986 material. These aren't bad recordings by any means. They're a little too laid-back, perhaps, and the arrangements are a little limp, but Bruce is in good voice and they're entirely pleasant. Although they're nice to hear, they're not the kind of recordings you'd seek out unless you were a hardcore fan who might like to have these mellow re-recordings as part of your collection. But anybody who thinks this is indeed a replacement for the previous Varese collection should stay away. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Includes liner notes by Howard E. Evets.
This is part of Varese Sarabande's "Vintage" series.
Compilation producer: Cary E. Mansfield.
Recording information: 04/1997.
Arranger: Ed Bruce.

An unassuming Oklahoman who fused the blue-collar ethic of new traditionalist country with an unapologetic pop side that drew on his love of 1970s rockers like Kiss and Billy Joel, Garth Brooks fundamentally changed the sound of mainstream country music in much the same way that Hank Williams had in the 1940s and Patsy Cline had in the 1950s. | | Billy Currington Little Bit Of Everything CD (2008)
Last Wild Place: Anthology album
$10.69 True to its title, the third album by Nashville's Billy Currington throws some rock and R&B influences into his contemporary country music. A rocking blend of crunchy guitars, in-your-face drums, and more subtle traditional country instrumentation like fiddles and pedal steel characterizes the album's brash but not noisy or harsh sound. Highlights include the idyllic opener, "Swimmin' In Sunshine," a sure-thing evocation of a gorgeous lazy summer day, and the wry "That's How Country Boys Roll."

| | Paul Rodgers Muddy Water Blues: Tribute To Muddy Waters CD (1993)
Last Wild Place: Anthology album
$9.69 Paul Rodgers' tribute to Muddy Waters is not a return to Waters' electric Chicago blues, but a continuation of the blues-rock of Rodgers' old bands, Free and Bad Company. Taken on those terms, Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute to Muddy Waters works only when Rodgers is matched with a good blues-rock guitarist. Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, and Gary Moore all play well, while Richie Sambora, Neal Schon, and Trevor Rabin all sound a bit lost; the rest, including David Gilmour and Brian May, fall somewhere in between. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Creed Greatest Hits CD (2004) Bonus DVD
Last Wild Place: Anthology CD music
$8.99 Despite Creed's lack of critical acclaim, Scott Stapp and crew made a lasting connection with millions of fans, along the way selling truckloads of CDs and filling stadiums. More importantly, the Florida ensemble kept an updated version of grunge alive (a style many music-industry pundits predicted would fade with the early 1990s), burning ferociously into the new millennium, and spawning nearly as many imitators as the genre's Seattle-based pioneers.
Spreading the gospel of loud guitars, louder drums, and angst-ridden, baritone growling even further into the mainstream than before, Creed added a Christianity-inspired lyric sensibility matched with heavy Soundgarden-style de-tuned six-string riffs ("Torn") and a big dollop of arena-rock drama ("One Last Breath"). GREATEST HITS comes as advertised, straightforwardly delivering all of the band's chart-toppers and fan favorites in one convenient package without the remix/bonus track filler that plagues many other superstar best-of collections. The fine bonus DVD features footage of the group performing live and nine music videos.
This collection brings together the hits that fueled this phemomenon for the first time, with a bonus DVD featuring all nine music videos the band created, with three additional performances never before available to fans.
Includes bonus DVD.

| | Listen To Bob Dylan CDs (2005)
Last Wild Place: Anthology music CDs
$9.75 Around the time that director Martin Scorsese's Bob Dylan documentary, NO DIRECTION HOME, was unveiled in 2005, Drive-Thru Records released a two-disc tribute to the iconic singer/songwriter. Although the indie label features a stable of punk-pop artists, many tracks here are stripped-down and unplugged, with highlights coming from As Tall As Lions (who offer up an appropriately melancholy take on "Girl of the North Country") and RX Bandits (who contribute a dreamy version of "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll").
Tributee: Bob Dylan.
Liner Note Author: Stefanie Reines.
| | Moods Have Your Day CD (2008)
Last Wild Place: Anthology songs
$12.15 The MOODS take the fundamental pop dynamic, strongly influenced by the British Invasion of the 1960s, and layer in a variety of instruments, bringing their sound to a more symphonic level. Imagine an upbeat, pop-driven version of Belle & Sebastian with a hint of a modernized Buddy Holly. Their songs delve into the deep waters of incisive political and social commentary, and resurface to universal themes of love and heartache.Frontman Jay Africa sets the foundation with his rhythm guitar lines, adding a second guitar (Brian Johnson) in counterpoint, and a rocksteady bass (Eric Carter) and drumline (Mark Adams) which create the backbone of the band. Heidi Kushnatsian’s playful piano and elegant violin lines add movement and complexity, while the electronic facet of the synth (Erin Africa) creates a modern texture. Five-part vocal harmonies complete the richness that defines The MOODS.
