Groove For Thought is...A group of six singers who share a love of contemporary vocal music. GFT sings an assortment of jazz, gospel, r&b, and pop music both a cappella and with a live band. The members of GFT all have extensive backgrounds in vocal jazz and bring something fun, exciting, and unique to the idiom. GFT originated in 1998 when Kelly Kunz and two former students, James Niles and Randy Taylor, began singing together at Kelly’s home studio in Renton, Washington. A year later, Kelly’s brother Kevin was added to the lineup. The group soon realized that to perform the thick harmonies they could achieve through overdubbing in the studio, they would need to add more singers. Jeff Horenstein was added and the group began rehearsing and performing at schools, jazz festivals, and community events throughout the Seattle area. GFT has since rounded out its lineup adding singer Peter Jones and has performed throughout the western United States and Canada. The group's early performances were completely a cappella and in 2005, they won the Pacific Northwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes Competition as well as the "Best Original Arrangement" and "Audience Favorite" awards. They went on to win the National Harmony Sweepstakes Competition along with the "Best Original Song" award. GFT now performs with a live band and is proud to announce the release of their debut CD Groove For Thought. Greg took a break from his session schedule and released the much anticipated 2002 follow-up album Midnight Morning generating two top ten singles, “ Roadhouse” and "Sup with That.” Adams’ third solo project FireFly, released in 2004, was among the top 100 honored at NAC radio in 2005.Legendary for the horn arrangements that created the signature sound and have made Tower of Power one of the most enduring musical entities today, Adams is a founding member of Tower of Power recording fourteen albums with the group on four major labels and millions in record sales. | | Prisca Piano En Canto Venezolano CD (2007)
Groove For Thought songs
$17.69 Pianist, composer and arranger Prisca Dávila was born in Caracas, Venezuela. This remarkable instrumentalist and vocalist, an outstanding representative of a new generation of Venezuelan musicians, spent six months touring Europe in her mother’s belly. It was, thereafter, that her father christened her Prisca Okarina, the second one being after a Latin American wind instrument of sweet and delicate sound, a blessing in disguise.Prisca grew up in a bohemian surrounding where her parents (Eduardo and Marieva), both architects, where frequently visited by musicians, sculptors, painters, writers and beatniks who took time to share their talents, so it was only natural that her artistic leanings towards the arts began with singing, drafting and writing poetry at an early age. At that time, she used to wear improvised costumes to act ...

| | A Boy Named Sue Selling Road Maps For The Soul CD (2007) (Import)
Groove For Thought CD music
$11.15 ”The foremost advantage is his voice, that immediately reveals class.” is what the norwegian newspaper Aftenposten wrote when A Boy Named Sue had their EP-debut in 2004. A lot of things have happened since then, but the unique voice of singer Stig Sandbakk is still to be found up-front. Sandbakk is the kid from a small town at the north-west coast of Norway who moved to the big city of Bergen to become a rock-star in the year of 2000, quit the band a couple of years later, and started working on his solo-project A Boy Named Sue, where he brought along Roy Ole Førland (bass/keyboard/programming), Jan Tore Ness (drums) and Roald Kaldestad (guitars/mandolin); exquisite and experienced musicians who joined to arrange Sandbakks compositions and recorded them live in legendary Grieghallen Studio in July 2006.Kings of Convenience-producer Davide Bertolini engineered and mixed the entire album.Stig Sandbakk grew up in a small town in a village called Barstadvik. He started singing in public at the age of 5, and was all the time encouraged to develop his musical talent by his family, especially his grandparents. Now, even though his grandparents bought him a lovely red accordion in fourth grade, his dads old Yamaha-guitar seemed a bit more intriguing. Out in the woods and in the mountain-sides, our young hero learned the arts of playing guitar mostly on his own. Some years later he finally met his equals, and managed to impress the members of the local rock band ”Yellow Farts” into letting him join as their new vocalist. The band quickly changed name into WOO, and developed into a young acoustic rock band playing original material and some covers of mainly Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Grateful Dead. Some years later electricity was back in business, and WOO rapidly became an extraordinary Progressive Rock Band, playing a lot of concerts in their hometown.A journalist wrote this after a concert in 1999: ”This quartet displayed one of the best musical performances I´ve ever heard.”This was more than good enough for our young lads, their ambitions outgrowing the little village by far, and in April 2000, WOO moved into an apartment in the city of Bergen. After their first performance in Bergen, The Bergen Times wrote:”WOO brought total astonishment upon ...
