| | Buckfast Turn CD Buckfast Discography of CDs
Buckfast were initially conceived in San Francisco, Ca. in 2003 by founding members, guitarist Vic Belonogoff, singer Rian Riddle and drummer Cormac Breslin. Belonogoff was a San Francisco native, with Riddle who had moved from Boise, Idaho in 1999 and Breslin from Kells in Ireland in 2001. After developing their sound, they wrote and recorded a 6-track EP (self-titled) at the famed 'Plant Studio' in Sausalito, Ca. in 2004, under the guidance of reputed engineer / producer Dave Schiffman (Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta, System Of A Down)That same year, the three sat down to think about their future plans and eventually decided to relocate to the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, fearing that things had started to slow down in the bay area. The move to LA paid instant dividends as fresh inspiration from their new surroundings prompted tracks to be written for their first full-length album. With the album almost written, Buckfast completed their lineup with the addition of bassist Beau Caldwell who had moved to LA from Illinois in 2002.Buckfast began recording their debut album Turn in July 2005 at The Boat studio in Silverlake, Ca., again with Schiffman, who had helped hone the sound of the band to create a unique blend of sometimes aggressive, yet melodic and original rock. The recording sessions then moved to The Steakhouse studio followed by LAFX in North Hollywood, Ca., where the 11 track album was completed. With the imminent release of Turn, Buckfast believe they have finally captured their collective ideas of how rock music should both excite listeners but also make them think about the stories and ideas behind the writing. The songs represent everyday life and the struggles and triumphs we all encounter and hopefully each listener can relate to all or even some of them. With a well established, high-octane live show and loyal and growing following, Buckfast are planning to hit the road soon to promote their new release - Stay tuned for more... Turn album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept that list, and now she's drawn on it for this wonderfully nuanced outing that brims with a kind of redemptive timelessness. THE LIST is a renewal and a testament to life, and it ...
| | Them Crooked Vultures CD (2009)
Turn CD music
$11.17 Often, supergroups wind up dominated by one particular personality - think Eric Clapton in Derek & the Dominos, Jack White in the Raconteurs -- which makes the egalitarianism of Them Crooked Vultures all the more remarkable. Of course, when it comes down to it, it's a group of three natural-born collaborators: John Paul Jones, the old studio pro who gravitated toward provocative partners after Led Zeppelin's demise, teaming up with R.E.M. as easily as he did with avant-queen Diamanda Galas and nu-folkster Sara Watkins; Dave Grohl, who hopped into an empty drummer's chair whenever ...
| | Avett Brothers I And Love And You CD (2009)
Turn music CDs
$11.25 North Carolina sibling duo the Avett Brothers return in 2009, fresh off a few years of building a cult following for its melodic and rootsy alt-bluegrass sound, with the subdued I AND LOVE AND YOU. The opening single and title track basks in piano-pop splendor in an odd mix of Beach Boys, Byrds, and the Band.
The Avett Brothers continue charting the same musical course as EMOTIONALISM and MIGNONETTE on major-label debut I AND LOVE AND YOU, despite the presence of hands-on producer Rick Ruben. The country-folk duo continue to add elements of pop and hillbilly rock to a country/bluegrass foundation on the 2009 LP, a record with a newfound emphasis on piano ...

$15.19 KEV BIOGRAPHYWhen looking back over the events and moments that shaped his life and musical ambitions, it is easy to see how Toronto-native Kev has emerged as one of the most energetic and exciting young talents on the Canadian dance/pop scene. His freshness and energy is abundantly apparent on his independent solo debut CD, The Painter & The Artist.Even in his formative years, it was obvious that Kev was meant to be a performer. At the precocious age of nine, he was taking violin and piano lessons, and eventually ventured into acting classes. During his high school years, Kev’s acting talents earned him extra work in a variety of Canadian television shows (Road to Avonlea, Due South) and films (The Mighty, and a handful of Disney features). Kev’s expanding interest in the world of theatre led him to Toronto’s Trinity Theatre, where he found work as a production assistant to the director of the theatre, Robert Munoz. Never one to shy away from hard work, and ambitious enough to do whatever it took, Kev earned his stripes at the Trinity Theatre doing whatever needed to be done – putting up promotional posters, selling tickets, painting sets, manning the phones, sending out emails and faxes, running actors through their lines, and organizing staff schedules. His love of performance allowed him to develop his skills in various avenues – dancer, choreographer, stage manager, makeup artist, even costume design.Often times, it only takes one significant moment to change the course of a person’s life. For Kev, that moment occurred one late night at the Trinity Theatre. Mr. Munoz was on his way out, when he heard Kev, alone in the theatre, cleaning up after the night’s performance, singing along to a nearby radio. Munoz was duly impressed, and asked Kev if he would be interested in singing on the soundtrack of the play, Aesop’s Fables. The next day, Kev went into the studio to record the song Sour Grapes. The overwhelmingly positive reaction to the song led Kev to pursue music on a serious level. After ...
