On June 28, 2006, at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles before a sold out crowd, these 2 great artists performed one of only a handful of U.S. concerts, before the release of their album All the Roadrunning. This set showcases their live greatness.
Recorded at the Gibson Amphitheatre in California on June 28, 2006, Real Live Roadrunning features live renditions of all of the cuts from Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris' collaboration of the same name, as well as solo cuts from each and Dire Straits classics like "So Far Away" and "Romeo & Juliet." The musicianship is as flawless as expected, but there's not a whole lot to separate the tunes here from their studio sisters. The accompanying DVD is a much better example of the pair's quiet dynamic, allowing both the duo and its talented band a broader spectrum on which to emit their wry tales of love, loss, and life. ~ James Christopher Monger
Personnel: Mark Knopfler; Emmylou Harris; Richard Bennett (guitar); Stuart Duncan (mandolin, fiddle); Guy Fletcher , Matt Rollings (keyboards); Glenn Worf (bass instrument); Danny Cummings (drums).
Rolling Stone (p.114) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Sporting restrained vocals from both and even more tasteful guitar from Knopfler....Breezily pretty." Dirty Linen (p.45) - "Knopfler and Harris are a solid team....They both have enough stage presence and charisma not to get tangled up in theatrics....The fun is when Knopfler and Harris trade vocals..." | | Mark Knopfler Shangri-La CD (2004)
Real Live Roadrunning
$9.29 Mark Knopfler's first excursions outside of Dire Straits were film soundtracks, where his guitar mastery served him well. Starting in the mid-1990s, he embarked on a proper post-Straits solo career. By the time of 2004's SHANGRI-LA, Knopfler had almost entirely left behind the expansive instrumental textures of his former band in favor of a more straight-ahead singer/songwriter approach, which works wonderfully here. Knopfler ...
| | Gram Parsons Complete Reprise Sessions CDs (2006) Remastered; Boxed Set
Real Live Roadrunning
$24.29 Taking the place of the obligatory cd two-fer of GP and GREVIOUS ANGEL, Gram Parsons's THE COMPLETE REPRISE SESSIONS covers it all and then some for Grampires of all stripes. Produced by Emmylou Harris and Parsons cohort James Austin, this beautifully designed three-disc set includes one disc devoted to each solo record and a third featuring outtakes from each album's sessions. With fewer overdubs and Gram and Emmylou's vocals front-and-center in the mix, the final disc brims with the emotive soul and earthbound angelic vocals the two perfected. Among the final discs many highlights are looser alternate takes of "She" and "Streets of Baltimore" from ...
| | Mark Knopfler One Take Radio Sessions CD (2005) Extended Play
Real Live Roadrunning
$6.15 As guitar gods go, Mark Knopfler is a guy whose mellow music-making approach is at odds with the over-the-top images generally associated with the aforementioned tag. That notwithstanding, Knopfler demonstrates on LIVE FROM SHANGRI-LA that his kind of subtle instrumental skill and deft wielding of musical ...

$16.45 Bio of The Dog and EverythingThe Dog & Everything began their journey with the release of their debut album Bandshell in late 2001. Chris Payne of Chicago's Q101 was quick to call the album "one of the best local independent releases I've ever heard." Immediately the band began to play the Chicago scene and build a substantial local fanbase. Before long, the Chicago music industry began to take notice of their progress, and their music. The edgy and unique, hooky melodic rock caught on quickly.By July 2002, the two largest rock stations in Chicago; Q101 and 94.7 "The Zone" began to randomly spin the single "Hey Luv" within normal rotation hours. The response by the listeners was so overwhelming that music director James Van Osdol of 94.7 "The Zone" contacted The Dog & Everything and asked them to post a message on their website asking their fans to stop calling in for the song, as they could not handle the volume. Coincidently, the songs "Hey Luv" and "Superglue" were licensed to MTV, and featured on MTV's hit reality show "The Real World," and the sitcom "Undressed." As their Chicago fan base continued to multiply, The Dog & Everything began to tour the Midwest and west coast with acts such as Something Corporate (Drive Thru), Riddlin Kids (Aware) and Lucky Boys Confusion (Electra). The infectious songs and energetic live show immediately caught on in other cities, and before long there were substantial followings in markets such as Omaha, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Madison, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Oakland as well as surrounding areas. By Fall 2002 The Dog & Everything had headlined and sold out such Chicago venues as The House of Blues (1200 capacity), The Vic Theatre (1500 capacity), and the famed Metro (1200 capacity). In October of 2002 The Dog & Everything ...
