To be blunt, Necrophobic doesn't offer much innovation to the death/black/thrash fracas. But full-length number four, Bloodhymns, is a consistently entertaining listen, this Swedish (of course) outfit offering a nice combination of melody and aggression in the blood-spurting vein of Slayer and In Flames, proving that this group, toiling since the early '90s, may be one of the metal underground's overlooked talents. That being said, Bloodhymns, at heart, is a genre exercise, albeit a well-written and -performed one, a death metal battlefield strewn with quite memorable razor-sharp riffs and frosty melodies that make the band so obviously...Scandinavian. The production of (who else?) Tomas Skogsberg is thick 'n' meaty, guitars cranked, pummeling drum sound, generic death vocals resting calmly amid the sudden tempo changes and smartly conceived arrangements that rely on hooks and catchy phrases rather than the jarring, disjointed technical proficiency that too many death metal acts misconstrue as "challenging songwriting." Fans of the genre could do a whole hell of a lot worse than Bloodhymns, even if Necrophobic doesn't really aspire beyond the confines of generic Euro-death (what would a Scandinavian act sound like in an American studio with an American producer?), and thus remains a step behind creative innovators like Opeth, Nile, and Immortal. ~ John Serba
Necrophobic was formed in Stockholm, Sweden the year 1989 by guitarist David Parland and drummer Joakim Sterner to give the world a band that created unholy death metal. Around this time, most bands played death metal in the veins of Carcass, Napalm Death etc. Necrophobic had a bit different influences and focused more on to create a much more dark and evil sounding music, in the beginning influenced by Morbid Angel, Slayer and Bathory. Necrophobic felt reborn and started to complete the material for the 4th full length album. Feeling fresh air into the band, having a new record label that the band feel have great potentials and do the band justice, the writing of the new material went very easy. In short, the new album "Bloodhymns" is quite equal to "The Third Antichrist", but with a far more aggressive and heavier production. Ten songs that will make you bleed 'til death! The northern warriors have returned to conquer!!! Necrophobic Bloodhymns Songs Bloodhymns Review

Bloodhymns album
$13.65 "Ori Release '96 , Debut & only album from the Rap Metal band featuring Jim Korthe & Todd Deguchi ( bothe currently Third Strike ) . Co-produced by Matt Wallace ( Faith No More, Maroon 5 )"
The 1990s and the 21st century have seen plenty of women singing loud, heavy, forceful, in-your-face rock, but they tend to be concentrated in certain areas of rock. The harder side of alternative rock has been very female-friendly (Lunachicks, Courtney Love, 7 Year Bitch, Babes in Toyland, Soraia, L7, Bikini Kill, among countless others), and goth metal is famous for its abundance of female vocalists. But thrash metal, like death metal, black metal, and metalcore, has remained very male-dominated. Sabina Classen, Holy Moses' lead singer since the early '80s, is a rare example of a female thrash vocalist. Classen's gruff, abrasive, guttural vocals have long thrived on harshness, and ...

Bloodhymns album
$12.79 This album is a sort of summit conference of underground heavy music. Guitarists and vocalists Scott "Wino" Weinrich (the Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, the Hidden Hand) and Scott Kelly of Neurosis are grizzled veterans whose hoarse, guttural shouts and instantly recognizable, distorted guitar tones carry the authority of years of hard touring and introspective yet still crushing rock, while bassist Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om) and Melvins drummer Dale Crover shake the earth with their gigantic rhythms. ...

Bloodhymns CD music
$6.75 Also available in a 3-pack with BRITISH STEEL and POINT OF ENTRY.
In the early '80s, a new musical movement, dubbed "The New Wave of British Metal," swept across England. The conspirators include such heavy bands as Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, and Def Leppard, but Judas Priest is often credited as the originator and leader of the pack. Rob Halford's vocal histrionics and the dual guitar attack of K.K. Downing ...

| | Grade Headfirst Straight Into Hell CD (2001)
Bloodhymns album
$13.05 What is it one can say about Grade? They seem to eclipse any classification, although it seems their music is more on the heavier side of things. While Headfirst Straight to Hell does the typical "we're not a hardcore band" thing and plays out a few hardcore songs and then throws in some mellow intro, outro, or instrumental number, Grade can still throw listeners for a loop. Singer Kyle Bishop was made to yell hardcore. There's no doubt about that. Yet, there's something sloppy but cute when he does his singing on the album. In many ways, Headfirst Straight to Hell seems almost a disappointment in light of the territory that Grade could have and should have taken. One recalls when Grade first started getting attention, after they were finished with Second Nature and it seemed that many individuals were inspired by their potential to take hardcore to the next level. Unfortunately, with the release of The Embarrassing Beginning, it just about destroyed the career of Grade, displaying their shallow, ...
