| | Peter Frampton Colour Collection CD Peter Frampton Discography of CDs
Like most Peter Frampton overviews, the Universal Masters Collection spends a lot of time focusing on the greatest and most widely available garage sale slab of vinyl (besides Carole King's Tapestry) of all time, 1976's Frampton Comes Alive!. That said, the biggest sin one can commit when compiling a Frampton anthology is to opt for the four-minute single version of "Do You Feel Like I Do" as opposed to all 14 glorious, high as a kite minutes of the original. Sadly, it's the former that appears here, but there are enough gems like "Shine On," "Baby, I Love Your Way," and "Show Me the Way" to make up for it. Fans looking for a more comprehensive collection should pick up 2005's superior two-disc Gold collection. ~ James Christopher Monger

Budget priced digitally remastered single disc anthology of songs the blonde haired 1970's pop star recorded for A&M Records in his golden days of popularity. As a teenager, he was fortunate enough to be able to hang out with Bill Wyman, George Harrison and David Bowie (who helped him out in later years by employing his talents on the "Glass Spider Tour"). His first real success came as a member of The Herd and moved on to join departed Small Face Steve Marriott in Humble Pie. In 1972, he embarked on a solo career and by 1975 was the best selling Rock star in the world, thanks to his "Frampton Comes Alive" album. This collection compiles solo tracks like "Baby I Love Your Way", "Doobie Wah", "Show Me The Way", "All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side)", "Do You Feel Like We Do", "I'm In You" and many more. Colour Collection songs
$15.19 The banjo is rarely thought of as an instrument capable of playing beautiful and lyrical melodies appropriate as lullabies, but in the hands of two master musicians, Doug Back and Rik Lovelady, the banjo is transformed into an instrument that is both tender and beautiful.A perfect gift idea for parents, grandparents, baby showers, or for those who simply enjoy easy, relaxing music.Contains: All Through the Night, French Lullaby, Barcarolle, Danny Boy, Donkey Laugh, Edelweiss, Welcome to Life, Gynopedie, Hush a Bye, Lovely Hula Hands, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, Russian Lullaby, A Summer Night-Lullaby, Traumerei, Tumbalalaika.About Doug Back: "Douglas Back is known throughout legitimate music circles as a consumate musician. His work as performer and educator on guitar, classic five-string banjo, and mandolin has elevated Back to a position few in the fretted instrument world could hope to achieve. From his virtuoso renditions of classic banjo pieces of the past, to his recordings of classical guitar works, Doug Back's enviable reputation as musician, educator, and performer are certainly well deserved," wrote All Frets magazine (Fretted Instrument Guild of America) editor Johnny Baier. While earning undergraduate ...

| | Renaud Garcia-Fons Arcoluz CDs (2006) With DVD
Colour Collection MP3 Album
$16.15 The virtuoso five-string bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons is widely regarded, not specifically as a contemporary jazz performer, but as a man of the world who proudly wears his ethnic and classical influences on his sleeve. Arcoluz (translated as "bow of light") is a triumphant world music endeavor, using Middle Eastern sounds melded with ECM-like Eurocentric soundscapes to make new music that is at once familiar, attractively exotic, and enthralling. Also featuring acoustic guitarist Kiko Ruiz and kit drummer/percussionist Negrito Trasante, this trio extracts the best of belly dancing, late-night séance, and trance music with ritualistic underpinnings and the overview of a wise man's soul. Expert sound engineer Walter Quintus adds to the perfection of this music, and is ostensibly a fourth bandmember. These tracks flow like dark and shimmering waters moving through lengthy tributaries that branch off in rich prismatic directions, with the journey greater than the actual final colorful destination. Another identifying quality is that of intuitive improvised common sense, honed by acute listening skills and guided by a universal center that knows no prejudice, boundaries, or emotional confinement. Garcia-Fons loves to bow his bass, whether in sharp, lively pizzicato dancing tones with handclaps for "Gitanet," the stretched arco legato style that haunts the 5/4 time signature of the Middle Eastern-flavored ...
