| | Journey Raised On Radio CD Journey Discography of CDs
Journey's 1986 album was reissued in 2006 with two bonus tracks, live versions of "Girl Can't Help It" and "I'll Be Alright Without You."
After a three-year layoff, Journey returned with 1986's RAISED ON RADIO. Longtime drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory had left the band prior to the album's recording, leaving singer Steve Perry, guitarist Neal Schon, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain to fend for themselves.
While the album wasn't as big a blockbuster as the band's previous few releases (ESCAPE, FRONTIERS, etc.), it did spawn such hit singles as "Girl Can't Help It" and "Be Good to Yourself." After a successful supporting tour wrapped up later in the year, Journey would go on hiatus for 10 years, until 1996's TRIAL BY FIRE.
Limited Edition Japanese pressing of this album comes housed in a miniature LP sleeve. 2006.
Recorded at Plant Studios, Saucalito, California and Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California.
Journey: Steve Perry (vocals); Neal Schon (guitar, background vocals); Jonathan Cain (keyboards, background vocals).
Additional personnel: Randy Jackson (bass); Steve Smith, Larrie Londin (drums); Randy Goodrum (background vocals).

Raised On Radio album
$12.59 "If It Makes You Happy" won a 1997 Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
"Everyday Is A Winding Road" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy for Record Of The Year.
Since crashing the gates with 1993's TUESDAY NIGHT MUSIC CLUB, Sheryl Crow's brand of melodic pop has won her some Grammys and kept her constantly on the road. On the followup album, the one-time background singer retains her sweet delivery laced with gruff edges, while painting her sunny sound with darker shadings. Quirky characters and situations continue to inhabit Crow's songs, whether it's holy rollers and government conspirators ("Maybe Angels") or a homeless evangelist proselytizing outside a supermarket ("Hard To Make A Stand").
While Crow could easily content herself by writing about assorted oddballs, real-life manifests itself assuredly on SHERYL CROW. Her trip to entertain troops in war-torn Bosnia is reflected in the wasted virtues and exploding shells of "Redemption Day." And in "Love Is A Good Thing," she sings pointedly about firearm ...

| | Don Henley I Can't Stand Still CD (1982)
Raised On Radio music CDs
$6.85 Don Henley's first solo album may still have had the ghost of the Eagles lingering in the corners, but for the most part it showcases his stalwart partnership with producer and songwriter Danny Kortchmar. Lyrically, Henley's songs are a tad weak, but for an inaugural album from a man who had spent most of his career surrounded by multi-talented musicians and writers, on the whole it fairs quite well. His material deals with the hardships of love, the fickleness of the media, and the declining state of education, all induced with a friendly pop sound. The title track, a trouble-in-paradise love song, has Henley pouring his heart out with sugary angst, but is helped along with some avid keyboard work. "Dirty Laundry" is Henley's attack on the shallowness of the network newsperson that peaked at number three on Billboard's Top 40. Its bouncy chorus ...
| | Who Sell Out CDs (1967) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Raised On Radio songs
$21.25 This 1995 reissue of THE WHO SELL OUT includes songs and jingles not available on the original version.
Originally released on Track (612002/613002). Released in the U.S. on Decca (4950/74950) in 1968.
One of the Who's classics, THE WHO SELL-OUT found the band following the Beatles' lead into concept territory while slyly commenting on the new direction as overtly commercial via its title, its cover art, and the inclusion of many fake advertisements between its tracks. Ironically, the group were involved with real advertisements--some of which are included in this box--at the time of the SELL-OUT sessions. The album has held up over the years--certainly meriting ...

Raised On Radio music CDs
$6.85 FRIENDS & RELATIVES collects live Mott The Hoople tracks as well as studio & demo tracks by various band members.
Fans of the rock family trees produced by British historian Pete Frame will already have some idea of what a daunting task faced the creators of this collection. As much as any band of their age, Mott the Hoople's story touched so many other careers and concerns that a multi-disc box set could not truly do them justice. The parts played by a few bands are already well-known -- Spooky Tooth, Bad Company, and David Bowie are all integral to the saga, while the succession of archive exhumations issued by the U.K. Angel Air label have gone some way toward filling in the gaps that have long haunted devoted collectors -- primal '60s recordings by the Doc Thomas Group and the Silence, obscure '70s releases by British Lions and the Paper Bags, and sideline curiosities by Luther Grovesnor, the Rats, and Deep Feeling. Drawing from this stockpile alone, Friends and Relations could readily have proven an album of immense importance. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked out that way. The absence of the bigger (read "major label") names is the most immediate downfall, rendering the story only half-complete before it's even started. The preponderance of post-Ian Hunter Mott material, too, places the collection on shaky ground -- without a doubt, both that band and the succeeding British Lions did have some moments of fleeting magnificence but, equally doubtlessly, none of them are here. Rather, the heart of the collection relies on late-in-the-day solo recordings by founding members Mick Ralphs, Verden Allen, and Overend Watts (but no Ian Hunter -- can you imagine?); odd bits and pieces by later associates Morgan Fisher, Ray Majors, John Fiddler and Steve Hyams; two tracks apiece from sundry pre-Hoople concerns; and way too many live substitutes for unavailable studio material. Musically, Mott the Hoople stuck to a very clearly defined path, the band's magic lying in the deviations which took them in so many ...
