Psalm 9 album for sale by Trouble was released Oct 24, 2006 on the Escapi Music label. Bonus DVD contains footage of the band performing live on a local cable show circa 1982 as well as an exclusive interview. A huge throwback to the '70s in every sense (looks, sound, etc. ), Chicago's Trouble had little hope of fitting into the various mid-'80s heavy metal scenes. Instead the band were busy updating the genre's prehistoric doom teachings for the new decade, beginning with their eponymous debut, later re-baptized Psalm 9. ...See Full Description

| great disc great to hear these tunes again.when my tapes were gone and this title was out of print i was seriously bummed for a long time. definateley one of the 80s most underrated metal bands. By itzvern (arizona) |
| Doom metal masterpiece And in the beginning there was Trouble. Hailing from Chicago, IL and starting in the early eighties these 5 metal heads looked to bring back the doom to a metal scene which was about to explode with thrash. With a healthy dose of Black Sabbath and lyrics based in Christianity the laid down a masterpiece which has influenced hundreds of fledgling doom bands. As soon as The Tempter kicks in you know you are in for a treat. Alternating between slow heavy parts, fast bits, and lead breaks. Eric Wagner's vocals are great and the dual guitar attack is top notch. The rythmn section is also very solid. Originally released as an eight track LP, a cover of Tales of Brave Ulysses was added to close the proceedings for the cassette version. It was also originally a self-titled release, but when they signed to a major for their fourth LP, they again went the self titled route and this became Psalm 9. Assassin, Victim of the Insane, Revelation (Life or Death),Bastards Will Pay, The Fall of Lucifer, Endtime, Psalm 9 round out the tracklist. Not a weak moment to be found here with many standouts like Assassin, Bastards will Pay and Psalm 9. Trouble along with Candlemass, Pentagram and The Obsessed formed a bridge between Between Black Sabbath's early doom rumblings and the 90's when Lee Dorian started the revival of DOOM with Cathedral. | Great record by a great band At a time when half the metal scene was about hairspray and makeup and the other half was about blittering speed thrash- Trouble (along with Pentagram & Saint Vitus) showed the world that slow churning doom laden HEAVY metal could still shake the Earth as done by their predecessors, Black Sabbath. This is the first record by this great Heavy Metal band, formed in the 80's, and great starting off point for anybody looking to explore this genre of music. By Ant (Secaucus, NJ) |
| A must have for a fan of classic metal \m/ This cd has alot of great songs. Eric Wagner has one of the best voices in metal. By a reviewer (Benicia, CA USA) This review is for a different format. |
