Heavy metal acrobatics played with amazing dexterity can be a tricky thing. It's one thing to be able to be able to impress prog metal heads when you can slave away in the studio for extended periods, making sure that each arpeggio and double bass fill is impeccable. But what about when you have to deliver it on-stage? Well, it should come as no surprise that the Kamelot gentlemen have absolutely no problem replicating it all on their first-ever live effort, 2006's One Cold Winter's Night. In fact, with the workmanlike renditions included here, you get the feeling that they could probably play all their songs note-for-note while blindfolded, walking a tight rope, and reciting the alphabet (in reverse). Goth keys, shredding guitar, and some very Geoff Tate-esque vocals (courtesy of Roy Khan) abound, along with a galloping rhythms and triumphant lyrics as showcased on such tracks as "The Black Halo" and "The Edge of Paradise." If your horse's saddle is securely in place, your knight's armor fastened, and your lance sharp, then feel free to load One Cold Winter's Night in your CD player. ~ Greg Prato

Wow - One of the best live CDs I've ever heard! One Cold Winter's Night is one of the best live albums I've heard in a long time. The performance is energetic and the production rivals Dream Theater's latests releases with powerful bass and an extraordinarily balanced mix. If you're a fan of Kamelot's recent releases, buy it now! Absolutely incredible. Submitted by Chris (Orlando, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

One Cold Winter's Night album
$22.75 Recorded live at Castle Donnington, England on August 22, 1992.
In 1992, Iron Maiden headlined the massive daylong Monsters of Rock heavy metal festival at England's Castle Donington for the second time. Hot on the heels of the band's two-part live album from 1993 (A REAL LIVE ONE and A REAL DEAD ONE), came another live collection, LIVE AT DONINGTON, which contained Maiden's complete performance on August 22, 1992.
The performances here are rawer than those on the LIVE ONE/DEAD ONE collections, due to the fact that the group didn't have the luxury of selecting the best performances from several concerts. Though this album was originally issued only as a limited-edition release, when Maiden's complete catalog was reissued in 1998, LIVE AT DONINGTON was included. LIVE AT DONINGTON is an excellent collection, featuring tracks such as "From Here to Eternity," "Tailgunner," "The Clairvoyant," "2 Minutes to Midnight," "Sanctuary," "The Trooper," and other greats.
As the title says, Live at Donington was recorded live at England's annual heavy metal festival, Castle Donington, on August 22, 1993. The performances are definitely an improvement over the disappointingly lackluster A Real Live Dead One collection (taken from the same tour), while ...

| | Pat Boone Hopeless Romantic CD (2006)
One Cold Winter's Night music CDs
$14.79 Almost a decade after his heavy-metal covers album, Pat Boone offers up a set of songs more in line with his squeaky-clean image on 2006's HOPELESS ROMANTIC. The Florida-born crooner works his way through 14 unmistakably amorous tunes, including the jazzy "I Love You Truly," the playful "Kiss in the Kitchen," and the country-tinged "She's Out of My Life." Surprisingly enough, Boone even works in a cheeky R&B vein on a few songs, including the Barry White-esque "Still Waters Run Deep" and the smooth title track. Although Boone was in his 70s at the time of this disc's recording, his voice sounds decades younger, making this a fine purchase for longtime fans.
In the years immediately prior to the British Invasion, only one performer rivaled the chart dominance of Elvis Presley, and that was Pat Boone. With his trademark white buck shoes, perfectly combed hair and gleaming smile, Boone was the very essence of American values at a time when rock & roll was viewed as a sign of the apocalypse-Pat embraced rock & roll and added his own twist. Charles Eugene Boone was born June 1st, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida; a descendent of American frontier hero Daniel Boone, he attended high school in Nashville, and ws voted student body president. After graduating he married Shirley Foley, the daughter of country star Red Foley. 2004 marks the anniversary of his 50th year in show biz and the 51st wedding anniversary to his wife, Shirley Foley. Pat Boone continues to influence and inspire fans, industry newcomers and seasoned veterans alike. A best-selling author, successful entrepreneur, chart-topping recording star, family man and legendary humanitarian, Pat's contribution to the American culture and country's consciousness has reached legendary status. With over 45 million units sold and 38 top 40 hits, he's recognized by Billboard Magazine as the #10 rock recording artist in history, placing higher on that impressive chart than either Madonna or Billy Joel. Entertainment Weekly proclaimed him 'Winner of the Week' in 2003 as Pat Boone incredibly landed his 61st hit 'Under God' a top 15 single on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart from his American Glory album. In 2003, the Gospel Music Association took note of these achievements when they inducted Pat into the GMA Hall of Fame. Pat started his own record label The Gold Label to showcase artists that have inspired music, memories and more. Due to popular demand for new material, Pat is currently in the studio recording tracks for a 2004 Gold Label release tentaviely titled, Hopeless Romantic. In the past two years, the imprint has produced/released 26 albums from such notables as Sha Na Na, Jack Jones, Roger Williams, Vern Jackson, Stephen Collins of the WB's 7th Heaven and Cleo Laine. After taking the top honors at a local talent show Pat earned the right to hit the national spotlight with ...

| | Roy Trio Kay Rhythm And Harmony Of Roy Kay Trio CD (2008)
One Cold Winter's Night CD music
$13.29 The Rhythm and Harmony of the Roy Kay Trio finds the trio sticking to its vintage guns on its fourth album. Once again, the always drummer-less trio featuring the talents of rhythm guitarist/lead vocalist Roy Kay, lead guitarist/vocalist Mike Geglia, and upright bassist/vocalist Robin Cady delivers a set of old-school rockabilly originals. The tracks, all written by Kay, are sweet little pop nuggets of urbane roots rock that should appeal to fans of '50s-era rock & roll. That said, while Kay has always had a knack for hummable, twang-inflected foot tappers, here he has expanded some of his purest tendencies to include some nifty chord progressions and sonic touches that also hint at early-'60s pop -- think the Everly Brothers or early Beatles minus drums of course. More over, such stellar cuts as the lead-off track "Why Even Try" and the mid-album ballad ...
