(1 Customer Review)
Digitally remastered using 24-Bit technology by Suha Gur (Universal Studios, Edison, New Jersey).
Universal's 20TH CENTURY MASTERS series of single-artist hits packages aren't meant for diehard fans of the artists chosen. If anything, a true Tom Jones fan may be somewhat disappointed in this 12-track anthology.
An inexpensive, all-meat, no-filler introduction for the novice, if you want to know what to love about Tom Jones, it's all here. "It's Not Unusual," "What's New Pussycat," "She's a Lady," the Bond theme "Thunderball," are all present, alongside such mellower material as "Detroit City" and "The Green Green Grass of Home." This is probably the best starting point for the Tom Jones beginner.

1976's A NEW WORLD RECORD is both a classic of commercial '70s pop and an archetypal ELO album. From the outer-space synths and rich orchestrations that open the album to Jeff Lynne's meticulous production and Beatlesque melodies, A NEW WORLD RECORD is magnificent ear candy. Both ambitious enough to appeal to "serious" rock fans and ultra-catchy enough to sound terrific on Top 40 radio (the plaintively gorgeous, McCartney-like "Telephone Line" and the anthemic "Livin' Thing" were well-deserved smashes), ELO was one of the few '70s bands whose appeal covered both the FM and AM spectrums. The album even resurrects "Do Ya," a classic single by Lynne's former band, the Move, in a splashy new version.

20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Tom Jones album
$15.69 AMERICAN LIFE Limited Edition includes a 2 sided 23" x 35" poster and postage size Madonna stamp sheet.
Re-teaming with French electro-pop producer Mirwais, (who also lent his talents to 2000's MUSIC), Madonna uses her perspective as a globally famous ex-pat living in England to comment on the USA's spiritual state throughout AMERICAN LIFE. Prominently featuring plenty of acoustic guitar among the synth-soaked swooshes and Euro-disco beats, the Material Girl ends up going for a more stripped-down sound. This technique works particularly well on the opening title cut, which finds Ms. Ciccone rapping about bodyguards, soy lattes, gardeners and other upper-class perks that don't seem to make the spiritual side of life any better.
"Hollywood" does an even better job addressing the downside of fame while pumping in a few more hooks. Faith in family fuels the lush "Nothing Fails," with its unexpected gospel-chorus outro, while amore inspires the light and tight "Love Profusion," and insecurity plagues the solo-acoustic "X-Static Process." Of course all these songs of self-discovery and spirituality didn't stop Madonna from including "Die Another Day," the Euro-techno title song from the James Bond film of the same name.
American Life is an album performed by a vocalist who has abandoned the U.S. for the U.K. and co-produced by a French techno mastermind, recorded during a time of strife in America, and released just after the country completed a war. Given that context and given that the vocalist is arguably the biggest star in the world, the title can't help but carry some ...

| | Zvonimir Tot Eloquent Silence CD (2009)
20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Tom Jones album
$14.15 Zvonimir Tot - guitar; Larry Gray - double bass; Ernie Adams - drums; Orbert Davis - trumpet, flugelhorn; Mark Colby - tenor saxophone; Julie Koidin - alto flute; Stefan Milenkovich - violin. Recorded 3/24 and 3/25/2009 at Studiomedia Recording Company, Evanston, IL.REVIEWS:''Eloquent Silence' is an introspective yet powerful album by Chicago guitar virtuoso Zvonimir Tot. The album features an all-star band! Bouncing between hard-driving funk tunes, laid back ballads, rock-inspired grooves and Latin beats, Tot's compositions spin a web of musical eloquence that is both engaging and intellectually provocative! Each tune on the album reflects a different side of Tot's compositional palette. While Tot is firmly based in the modern jazz tradition, he also borrows heavily from other genres including funk ("Bruce's Dilemma"), rock ("Mira's Do-Re-Mis") and bossa-nova ("Sub Rossa")! Tot's virtuosic chops and strong sense of melody shine throughout! Eloquent Silence is an entertaining jaunt through the myriad of Tot's musical influences and favorite genres. '- Matthew Warnock, All About Jazz, June 2009. 'A much-in-demand player, Tot enlists some of the cream of the crop of Chicago artists on his second album as a leader, and it is the delicious interplay between the guitarist and his fellow players that gives ...
