Christopher Reeve stars. Digitally remastered with Commentary by Executive Producer Ilya Salkind and Producer Pierre Spengler, Vintage Making-of Documentary, Additional Scenes. Christopher Reeve returns as the Man of Steel, this time battling maniacal businessman Ross Webster and his computer-expert assistant. Webster hatches a plan to control the world economy and uses Red Kryptonite to split Superman into two beings, one good, one evil... Superman matches wits with an evil mastermind and a computer genius who discovers the one substance that can harm the Man of Steel. Combining the known ingredients of Kryptonite with a guess at the unknown, the genius invents a new Kryptonite that doesn't kill Superman--it turns him evil. Meanwhile, a giant computer has been built for the mastermind that becomes self-aware and cannot be shut off. This entertaining combination of spectacular special effects and irrepressible comedy, once again directed by Richard Lester, features terrific madcap turns by Richard Pryor, Robert Vaughn, and Annette O'Toole and yet another majestic score by John Williams. Superman III Movie Review Average Rating: (2.5 out of 5 stars) GOOD DVD, OK SPECIAL FEATURES Superman III was a decent entry in the series, far better than part IV thanks to some great special effects and the comic talents of Richard Pryor. This dvd includes MOST of the deleted/extended scenes. The only thing missing, and I wish it was included, was the alternate opening title credits which were done in space. They were used in the television versions of the film first aired on ABC in 1985.
"The Making Of" retro special is quite interesting and I am glad Warner included it with this release. This is definitely worth picking up if you have not already. If you already own the previous bare-bones release from 2001, then this is definitely a worthy upgrade to that movie-only edition.

I am disappointed..... I am disappointed. I can't believe WB screwed up like this!!! First, all of the scenes that were deleted weren't recut into the film. Second, The deleted scenes were featured in a fullscreen format, rather than widescreen. Third, all of the deleted scenes from the film weren't even included on the DVD. Many scenes were longer than what is on the DVD and WB, either cut them short or never included them. Waste of my time. Submitted by CWDevine (Krypton 1983, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Super fun! Supersequel! "Superman III" is my favorite film in the "Superman" movie series. It does take the comedy up a notch but also delivers plenty of thrills and great action sequences. And who could ever forget when Ross Webster's sister turned into an evil robot woman? That gave me nightmares as a child and still freaks me out today. Great stuff! This was a very fun movie with all the elements that makes these movies so fantastic. Submitted by Johnny Crawley (Worcester, Mass) Was This Review Helpful? richard pryor in a superhero film? Back in 1983 I remember seeing this film in the theater. I remember waiting in line and seeing the people coming out and they all looked depressed. not a good sign. When I saw the movie It didnt feel right. Why was a standup comedian in a superman movie? where's the villian. surely not robert vaughns character. I will admit this annette o toole is a better actress than margot kidder she should have been lois lane not lana lang. like superman 4 I give both of these movies 3 stars. The main reason is christopher reeve and both movies are watchable. But the first two were really the best with reeves as superman. hopefully brandon routh as the new superman will deliver. i think he will. Submitted by tomao (okc , ok) Was This Review Helpful? a lot of fun! I don't know why Superman III gets the bashing it does? It's a fun and very nastalgic film. Richard Prior is teriffic as the down on his luck turned hero Juss! While not as epic and serious as the donner films that I love myself,Superman III is a exciting and worthy edition in the great Superman series!
