Christmas is almost here, and a deranged, axe-wielding psycho is terrorizing a sorority. As it happens, the mad murderer also makes obscene phone calls -- and he lives right above the girls...
The few remaining residents of a Canadian sorority house are celebrating the onset of Christmas vacation when a thirteen year-old girl is found dead in the park. Soon, it is discovered that one of the sorority sisters is missing, which triggers a terrifying chain of murders within the house. Director Bob Clark's (PORKY'S, A CHRISTMAS STORY) tense, effective film is a precursor to the slasher films that would come a half decade later, but never relies on gore. Olivia Hussy (ROMEO AND JULIET) stars alongside Margot Kidder and SCTV's Andrea Martin. Black Christmas Reviews: "[The film] possesses a strong cast and moments of real tension..."

Black Christmas Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A great scary movie! This is a great movie, made in the day when movies had a plot and frightened you. This is not a modern slasher-type film with needless gore. The cast, as well as the acting is good and although I have seen this many times, it is still very scary. One of my favorites and I recommend it to anyone who loves the older horror movies. Be prepared for a surprise (over-used in today's films, but original in this movie at the time.) essential cinema A genuinely scary movie that utilizes what you don't see rather than what you do see. I removed 1 star because the picture and sound quality of the film is poor although watchable. Submitted by mark the shark (london) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not all that scary but, hold your breath! I never heard of this movie 'til a co-worker told me about it a month ago. Just watch the scene with the Saran wrap over this girl's head. YIKES! This dude is merciless & don't want him in my house! Watch this movie in the dark; it'll make it less boring. Should've had closed caption 'cause I couldn't tell what they were saying. Overall, not a bad movie. Submitted by peters.charles (Anderson, IN, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Merry Murderous Fun!!! Originally watched this well-made thriller under the name A Stranger in the House.Great storyline and an awesome creepy atmoshere would have made me think twice about staying in a sorority house by myself for a night! My favorite piece of this movie was the eye behind the door!!!Iwanted to give this 5 stars but it was slow at times. Otherwise top-rate!! Submitted by Pete S. (Mahanoy City.PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not a turkey! Above-average seasonal slasher with suitably chilling ending, although it might have been better to have given the extra features the chop. Submitted by zunod (Devon, UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$10.55 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he ...

$9.79 Documentarian Errol Morris directs THE FOG OF WAR, a captivating look at Robert S. McNamara, who served as the Secretary of Defense during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The movie does not exclusively focus on this part of McNamara's career, however, and instead gives a broad overview of the man he was, his multitude of roles--a Harvard Business School graduate, a Colonel in the Air Force during WWII, president of Ford Motor Company--and his opinions on a variety of historical topics. Inspired by two books written by McNamara--IN RETROSPECT (1995) and WILSON'S GHOST (2001)--Morris gives McNamara a forum to talk about the decisions he made and the influence he had during his career. At the age of 85, ...
