Devil's Serenade music CDs
$13.09 Henry Threadgill has, in the framework of abstract music, been a stalwart, spontaneous composer whose personal sound is near impossible to identify, or certainly codify. A listener who enjoys very challenged music would have difficulty in discerning what is made up or written out. The elusive nature of Threadgill's kind of progressive jazz has to confound even those most oriented to his quirky pieces. Where the quintet Zooid lands in this quirky quandary of pegging a signature sound is subject to guesswork, but it definitely has its own brand of concentrated cohesion. Between Threadgill's scattershot flute and alto sax, ...

Devil's Serenade CD music
$17.09 A sequel of sorts to Chris Botti's 2006 PBS special, LIVE WITH ORCHESTRA & SPECIAL GUESTS, the September 2008 event LIVE IN BOSTON found the sartorially splendid cool jazz trumpeter accompanied by the Boston Symphony and a collection of celebrity vocalists. Also available as a DVD, the concert delivers an overview of popular music, with jazz standards like "I've Got You Under My Skin" right alongside "Ave Maria" and Sting's "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You." Whether featuring rocker Steven Tyler, AMERICAN IDOL chanteuse Katharine McPhee, or pop-opera superstar Josh Groban, all the tunes are presented in Botti's inimitable, Chet Baker-influenced uber-smooth style.
Chris Botti in Boston features trumpeter Chris Botti along with a bevy of name artists performing live with the Boston Pops Orchestra at Symphony Hall in 2008. Fully documented as a concert film and album, ...

Devil's Serenade album
$13.25 Although the three protagonists on this album are all professors at the Berklee College of Music, the music, and the manner in which they perform it, is anything but academic. They provide a full agenda of styles, from the modern to that which stays within a slightly more conventional set of boundaries, both occurring sometimes during the same tune. Regardless of the jazz form, the borders of improvisation, and thus jazz, are furthered by the endeavors of musicians who are completely in synch. There's no wasteful individual (or collective) meandering into the abyss of confusion on this set. Jerry Bergonzi naturally carries the melodic load. But his compatriots both support and challenge him with their percussive underpinnings. A prime example of their communication is on the title tune, where the sax player puts out a steady ...
| | Maggie Stiles Things Are Looking Up CD (1994)
Devil's Serenade CD music
$12.69 Maggie Stiles has been singing all her life, in church, school and as a solo entertainer. She toured with a singing group to Australia and New Zealand in 1972, then to Iran in 1974. In 1989, Maggie received "on-air" experience on FM radio by hosting a daily four-hour country music program. Further performance experience was enhanced by a five week stay on Carnival Cruise Line's Jubilee, where she sang six nights a week from Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarte, Mexico and back.Since 1990, Maggie has been living in San Diego where she has been entertaining as a solo at VFW halls, Elks lodges and private parties. Maggie's music appeals to a wide range of individuals as she performs a variety of styles, including old rock and roll, Motown, Top 40 country and country rock. She has incorporated teaching a few line dances and has been a big hit even in "non- country" groups. Maggie has a powerful voice that seems to come from her toes. She has a great time on stage, exerting so much energy that the party never seems to stop!In 1993, Maggie began a relationship with Raven Flight Music to produce a six-song mini-album, released August, 1994. The album contains five up-beat country rock tunes and one country waltz, all written by Rick Perez. The album, called Things Are Looking Up, has received much acclaim since it's release. Though the tunes are aimed for a country format they would do well in Adult Contemporary or light rock formats as well.During most of 1994, Maggie sang in an all girl trio, Circle of Stone, performing in San Diego and Orange Counties. She also won the San Diego Talent Search for solo artist in August, 1994, sponsored by KSON radio and Guitar Center. In February, 1995, Maggie signed an agreement with Comstock Records of Scottsdale Arizona, to distribute a single, "Hurricane on the Horizon" to 175 European radio stations and reviewers. With "Poor Man's Heart on the "B" side, the 45 rpm vinyl record received airplay in 54 cities throughout Europe on 66 country formatted shows and one pop Top 40 show.In July, 1995, Maggie won Album of the Year for "Things Are Looking Up" at the People's Choice Award at the Viejas Casino. And in August, 1995, was honored with Album of the Year for "Things..." and Song of the Year for "Poor Man's Heart" by the California Country Music Association, San Diego Region. In 1996 and 1997, Maggie won the title of Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer ...
