Only One Too album
$13.05 This expansive compilation focuses on a series of disco songs released on theT.K. Records label, most of which date from the mid- to late '70s. Despite the seemingly limiting "disco" tag, The Best of T.K. Disco presents a nicely diverse cross section of material from this genre: Indeed, the music covers everything from the lush, almost symphonic Euro-disco of Beautiful Bend's "That's the Feeling" to the earthy, bass-driven funk stylings of Uncle Louie's "Full Tilt Boogie." Along the way, it unearths plenty of lesser-known disco tunes that will delight hardcore fans of this style: Tempest Trio's "Love Machine" mixes symphonic lushness and percussive grooves to create a multi-layered dance track and "Plato's Retreat" by Joe Thomas is a cheeky tribute to the famous adult's club of the title that features a unique jazz-scat vocal break. A few of the inclusions don't live up to the level of these highlights (Quartz's "Beyond the Clouds" is a rather hookless synthesizer showcase that sounds very chintzy when stacked up against the otherwise richly produced tracks here), but The Best of T.K. Disco offers enough solid disco tracks to make it worth a spin to dance music enthusiasts on the hunt for lesser-known dance epics. ~ Donald A. Guarisco

| | Twelve Inches Of Bananarama CD (2006) (Import) England; Remastered; Remixes; Argentina
Only One Too songs
$10.49 Digitally remastered collection featuring 12 of Bananarama's hottest twelve inch extended remixes. Features 'Really Saying Something' (Extended Mix), 'More Than Physical' (Garage Mix), 'I Heard A Rumour' (Horoscope Mix), 'Cruel Summer' (The Digital Mix) and more. Warner
Piles of Bananarama compilations were released from the late '80s through the early 2000s, and they represent the group's past with varying degrees of success, but this disc is the first to concentrate solely on the 12" mixes. Some of the tracks are making their first appearance on CD, so it certainly has some level of appeal to collectors. The highlights include the "Extended Club Mix" of "Venus," the "Extended Mix" of "Really Saying Something," and the "Number One Mix" of "Trick of the Night." Make no mistake: this is no substitute for a proper best-of disc, such as 1988's The Greatest Hits Collection or 2002's The Very Best of Bananarama. ~ Andy Kellman

| | Paris Hilton Nothing In This World (2006)
Only One Too CD music
$7.49 Hotel heiress, movie actress, reality television star, model, author, perfumer, nightclub impresario, and style icon Paris Hilton can now add "pop diva" to her resume. Hilton collaborated with several top-notch producers to give her club-ready dance pop an urban edge, including Dr. Luke. When Dr Luke was asked to come up with a song for Hilton he hooked up with Shep Solomon and started writing "Nothing In This World." Once they had the chorus and rough sketch of the lyrics, they invited Hilton to meet them at a little hole-in-the-wall studio on Sunset Blvd. Paris was so taken with her now second single "Nothing In This World" that she committed to cutting it after the first listen.
