For hip-hop heads who always thought Flavor Flav's solo joints were the highlights of any P.E. album (or any new fans who arrived via the FLAVOR OF LOVE reality TV show), at long last, the original show-stealing sidekick delivers his debut album, HOLLYWOOD, on his own label Draytown records. After seeing two previous solo projects scrapped, Flav finally has a full-length platform on which to showcase his (surprisingly varied) talents. Hip-hop's original court jester not only handled much of the production and instrumentation, but also brought a variety of vocal styles--from hardcore storytelling, to amped-up party rhymes, to R&B hook-singing, to straight-up funk--that make his famed "yeeeah boyyyy" interjection nearly a thing of the past. Amazing CD This CD is very good. Although some of the tracks are edited on the unedited CD, I still have to give this CD a high rating. It is very catchy and unique, and is proof that rap is still alive and kicking. Submitted by wsubasketball01 (Wichita, KS, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Realest Album of the Year Really his own label
Really his own fam on the Interlude
Really his material
Really his own beats (Fire!)
He's a Hype Man (see not supposed to rap)...but his fluency's nice and his harmonies on point.
Dont Hate Realness kids.
Props to Flav! Submitted by Adan (B-Side Mass) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Suprising Not great or anything, but it's a rather good cd, just too many songs. The beats slam tho, and who cares about lyrics on the party tracks?...you can't get any worse than Chingy, Jibbs, Young Joc, etc. There are three songs where he sings that are good: Let It Show, Two Wrongs, and No Loot. Check out the Hot 1, that's my jam...the beat and bass is amazing. Do yo thang Flavor! Submitted by Dr. Ew (Phoenix) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Purchase Hollywood CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Geto Boys Foundation CD (2005)
Hollywood album
$15.05 2005's THE FOUNDATION marks the return of Houston, TX kings of controversy the Geto Boys, and reunites all three longstanding members--Scarface, Willie D., and Bushwick Bill--after nearly a decade. The record stays true to the complex, conflicted, horror-drenched world the trio conjured up in its early days, with the music recalling the group's heyday of stark albums such as WE CAN'T BE STOPPED. There's a wisdom in the Geto Boys sticking to beats virtually unaltered since the late1980s; considering that their style informed most of the sounds coming out of the South in the early 2000s, it comes across as more princely than dated.
Part of the threesome's genius lies in the ability to shift from the darkest scenes of graphic violence to moments of absolute silliness, exemplified by the first two tunes of THE FOUNDATION, the uncompromising "Declaration of War" and playful single "Yes, Yes, Y'All." For all of ...

| | Public Enemy Rebirth Of A Nation CD (2006)
Hollywood songs
$12.39 The legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy's 2005 reemergence updates their sound for the 21st century courtesy Paris's raw production, but their confrontational, hardcore message remains the same as it was in the days of IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS. Aided by appearances ...
| | Project Pat Crook By Da Book: The Fed Story CD (2006)
Hollywood album
$8.99 This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
Fans waiting four years since his last full-length can celebrate: the long lay-off, brushes with the law, and gangsta stardom have done nothing to soften Project Pat's Dirty South attack. CROOK BY DA BOOK: THE FED STORY ignores current electro rap trends by sticking to Hypnotize Minds trademark gritty production, and Project Pat remains one of the few rappers who can still convincingly rap about life in the projects even after boasting of a million-seller. The disc includes the infectious single "Good Googly Moogly," quite possibly ...
| | Ice-T Gangsta Rap CD (2006)
Hollywood CD music
$14.45 Calling an album GANGSTA RAP might seem like an absurd platitude coming from any rapper other than Ice-T, the undisputed originator of the genre. Ice takes time off from his acting gig on LAW & ORDER: SVU to douse listeners with a potent shot of classic ghetto storytelling and explicit recaps of O.G. sexcapades. With a host of guests (including wife Coco) and a solid boom-bap production style dusted with the requisite ...

$5.29 I can't see rhyme or reason for this one. Every one of these tracks can be easily found on other, more essential collections than Motown Guy Groups. This is creative packaging at its worst. You get one cut each from the Contours, the Four Tops, the Jackson Five, the Originals, and Junior Walker & the All Stars(?); yes, technically, ...

$11.29 They will take you by the hand a drag you through the sound... They are straight out of the depths of Brisbane's live Rock & Roll scene. They are Pacesetter. The band has evolved in their two years together not only as a strong group of friends, but as a hardworking collective of likeminded musicians. A set full of hair-swinging, toe-tapping rock along with the showmanship and electric performance of each individual band member is the least to expect ...
