$10.69 This limited edition package includes the SACRED ARIAS DVD, an enhanced CD with the original SACRED ARIAS music plus 2 bonus tracks, a 14 photo picture gallery, and downloadable wallpaper images.
When Andrea Bocelli lowers his chin and begins to sing, something happens. The very distinctive voice with the slightly reedy middle register is given to tender, almost boyish crooning, then opens up to a golden stage tone and zooms effortlessly into the stratosphere, which is impressive enough, but what really seems to define Bocelli is a certain following of instinct, or a will to do, despite serious training, what he wants to do with his voice, not just what an "opera star" would do in any given musical situation.
Bocelli uses his flexibility to great effect in SACRED ARIAS, whispering his prayers and letting his praises soar, often within the context of a single piece. The recital, as if following a priest's advice at confession, starts with four Ave Marias, the familiar Bach/Gounod and Schubert, along with the one from Mascagni's 'Cavalliera Rusticana' and a pop entry by Steven Mercurio that sounds a bit like Jerome Kern's "All the Things You Are." Other classical favorites include Franck's stirring "Panis Angelicus," Mozart's ravishing motet "Ave Verum Corpus" and, amazingly, "Der Engel" from Wagner's 'Wesendonck Lieder' which may refer to a more earthly kind of angel than the other pieces on this disc.
SACRED ARIAS finds Andrea Bocelli shedding his ultra-romantic persona and instead assuming the garb of the devoted supplicant. With this album, the superstar tenor honors a heritage that dates back to Caruso, whereby the greatest singers of the day would momentarily step away from the earthly concerns of opera and popular music and dedicate their talent to spiritual, worship-oriented recordings. As such, Bocelli lends his distinctive voice and trademark sensitivity to a varied program of contemplative, prayerful selections, including favorites such as the Gounod and Schubert versions of "Ave Maria," Franck's "Panis Angelicus," Mozart's "Ave verum Corpus," and Handel's "Ombra mai fu." Also included are less familiar works by composers such as Rossini, Verdi, and Wagner.
Among the highlights are the disc's opening track, a contemporary setting of Caccini's "Ave Maria," and "Sancta Maria," a vocal arrangement of the famous Intermezzo from Mascagni's 'Cavalleria Rusticana.' Both are fine showcases for Bocelli's warm tone and fluid phrasing. This "special edition" package offers two bonus tracks not found on the original 1999 release, as well as a DVD of a live performance at the Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome. Even though this album finds Bocelli working outside of his usual milieu, fans will nonetheless be delighted with his efforts.

Me is the future of music! Tonality is over. Tonality is out. We are in.It was a lot of work in our super-modern studio in Constance-au-Lac (by the lake) and Oslo with all the gadgets you would like to play with (but can't afford to - because you don't have enough oil) like our NEVE® mixing desk, and 3 cascaded XEON® workstations with 15 keyboards, and a Waldorf Wave® synthesizer (it's a beast) and and and. Also we experimented a lot with 3D-Audio® on stereo which makes the instruments and voices sound as if the they are in your room and in your face or even outside! This makes even boring music sound interesting. We used that a lot. Here is the track listing of "Global Warming":1 The Ice Is Melting 2.262 A New Instrument 4.203 Swimming-Drowning 3.594 Love The Earth 4.495 Dancing 2.596 Stalker 5.277 Science 4.308 We Are Straight 3.189 Osteoporosis 3.1610 Cigarillo 3.0211 I'm Loosing My Hair 3.1412 Opera 8.2613 In The Mountains 4.14This will change the world of music.
