Though a little rough in the production department, Flotsam & Jetsam's first album, Doomsday for the Deceiver, attempts both short bursts of thrashing intensity ("Desecrator," "Iron Tears") as well as extended, multi-part epics ("Metalshock" and the title track). Bassist and lyricist Jason Newsted occasionally attempts to squeeze too many words into some songs, but also displays a refreshing sense of humor (a rarity in this genre) on "Hammerhead" and "She Took an Axe." "U.S.L.W." is rather good but the nine-minute-plus title track is the best cut on the album, largely due to guitarist Michael Gilbert's very tasteful acoustic guitar intro. Overall, this is an important record for fans of early thrash metal. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
Without a doubt, Flotsam and Jetsam's 1986 debut album "Doomsday for the Deceiver" is an iconic release in the history of Heavy Metal. Twenty years later, Metal Blade Records and the band have teamed up to bring you the 20th Anniversary Edition which includes the original album, completely re-mixed and remastered, demos, live recordings along with very early interviews and videos. The package contains 2 CD's and 1 DVD.

"You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had" and "The Same Thing" did not appear on the original version of FOLK SINGER. They were recorded at a separate session in April 1964, three months after FOLK SINGER was released.
The title and cover photo of this 1963 recording were an attempt to cash in on the burgeoning American folk revival, but this is pure acoustic blues. Muddy began his career as a Robert Johnson-style solo acoustic performer, and the tunes on FOLK SINGER hark back to those days. He's accompanied sparsely by Willie ...

$13.15 If you want to determine whether someone is a serious metal connoisseur or has a more casual interest in metal, try running certain names by him/her. It isn't unusual for folks who are only casually interested in metal to have some Metallica, Slipknot, Judas Priest, or Korn in their CD collections -- those are huge, widely publicized bands -- but when a headbanger carries on enthusiastically about a cult band like Meliah Rage, Budgie, Grief, Hellhammer, or Saint Vitus, you know you're talking ...

Doomsday For The Deceiver (20th Anniversary Edition) album
$32.79 Styles may come and go, but good music will weave its ageless magic no matter what the current fad. Ulli Bögershausen is a guitar wizard with a truly remarkable craft at his command. He possesses a gift for making time stand still. And while the moment lingers, his solo guitar playing paints pictures upon the very soul of his audience – inobtrusive, yet unforgettable; vignettes glowing with the serenity of a day in late summer, a slight melancholy blended wonderfully with a mediterranean joy of living in a steady dance-like flow of notes in the air of an endless blue September day. After more than twenty years of performing and recording, the seasoned German guitarist can boast stacks of rhapsodizing concert reviews from newspapers and magazines anywhere between Los Angeles, Bonn, and Taipei. He has held audiences spellbound at intimate rural German venues, and he has left them open-mouthed at guitar festivals in Nashville and in the concert halls ...
