| | Indo British Ensemble Curried Jazz CD - Import Indo British Ensemble Discography of CDs
In 1969, the imaginative indie record producer, and jazz-lover, Mark Sutton, who owned his own recording studio in Soho, gathered together some of the finest session jazz musicians working in London together with husband and wife, Dev and Sitara Kumar to record a series of what we might today call "fusion". The result was "Curried Jazz". The producer for the sessions was Ken Barnes and his notes together with a an extract of an interview with noted Sitarist (and father of Norah Jones) Ravi Shankar and the arranger on this session Victor Graham are included in the notes. The original release was unleashed on a n unsuspecting jazz world that didn't quite know what to make of it. It's first time CD release some 37 years later, is now to be re-evaluated and appreciated by a much wider audience! Indo British Ensemble Curried Jazz Songs | 1. | Yaman (The ColonelS Lady) |

$12.89 Over the years, one of the nice things about Delmark Records has been its willingness to document talented but obscure improvisers. Curried Jazz CD music
$19.59 Starting in 1965 and especially during 1969-72, many of the top studio musicians in New York got together after work on a nightly basis to jam and try out new tunes. Because the players' backgrounds were as much in R&B as in jazz and they were very open to the influence of pop and rock, the music on this reissue (which is taken from the sessions) is a mixture of idioms. The musicianship of the 20 or so musicians is impeccable and there are some fine solos (particularly by Mike and Randy Brecker on tenor and trumpet) but the vocals and lyrics ...

$18.99 Thomas Loefke and FriendsHarp instrumentals from the celtic northwest"I open the door, a cool wind blows in my face, and the sea smells better than ever. The sky is still gray, but the first rays of the sun are scattering on the horizon. I look forward to the new day - life goes on...." This is what music looks like in the imagination of harpist Thomas Loefke.Thomas' music easily spans the confines of both style and time. From the sounds of the Celtic Middle Ages, the centuries-old music of Ireland's nomadic bards and the lively dances of Irish folk music, to his own original compositions, each of Thomas' works has its own special sound, texture, atmosphere and story to tell. The tradition of the Celtic harp in Ireland and Scotland began over a thousand years ago. The Celts brought the harp to Europe and developed it into a universal instrument with its own unique repertoire. It wasn't only the sound of the harp, but the depth of its living tradition that intrigued Thomas and moved him to play. He studied in Dublin and Berlin and was taught by some of Ireland's leading harpists - namely Helen Davies, MĂĄire NĂ Chathasaigh, Ăine NĂ DhĂșill and Janet Harbison.Since 1984 Thomas has developed his own performing and musical style, and has toured across Europe, Canada and the USA. He has received numerous international prizes, including first prize at the O'Carolan Harp Festival in 1987. Since that year he has been working together with Scottish guitarist/composer Ian Melrose. Both represented Germany at the European Broadcasting Union Festival in Norway in 1989. Thomas' first album, 1992's "New Music for Celtic Harp", was a collection of tunes written during his first seven years of composing, interspersed with a few of Ian's compositions. The musicians appearing on Thomas' 2nd CD, the Celtic Heartbeat/Universal album "Norland Wind", are the artists Thomas has been working together with for years: Ian Melrose, vocalist/guitarist Kerstin Blodig, Riverdance fiddle player MĂĄire ...
