Naked And The Simple Truth album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" ...

| | Korgis Kollection CD (2005) Bonus Tracks
Naked And The Simple Truth album
$14.35 Practitioners of exquisitely lush pop ballads, the Korgis' moment in the (British) sun reached its cusp as 1979 slid into 1980. The band had emerged from the ashes of Stackridge, a highly entertaining underground group whose amusing antics and music were once memorably compared to a "pantomime hippie horse." Eighteen months after Stackridge's demise in late 1976, James Warren got back in touch with his former bandmate, Andy Davis, traveled down to Bath, and the pair immediately began co-writing songs. The Korgis' debut album, recorded in producer David Lord's Bath apartment, emerged in 1979, along with their first hit single, "If I Had You," that pushed into the Top 15.
1980s "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime," took them all the way to number five, and in its wake, pulled the band's sophomore set, Dumb Waiters, into the Top 40. Unfortunately, their follow-up 45, "If It's Alright With You Baby," wasn't pulled into the charts by the same wake; it couldn't even break into the Top 50. A third album, Sticky George, passed by unnoticed, and the Korgis called it a day. A decade later, Warren and Davis reunited, and released one album, This World's for Everyone. Although a few collections of their work have been released over the years, none seem to have garnered much attention. Angel Air has released a collection to rectify the lack of readily available material. 2005's Kollection bundles up numbers from across the Korgis' career, including both the band's hit singles, tracks culled from all four of their albums, as well as five new songs, all of which slot impeccably ...

| | Adrian Otterman Floating In The Whale CD (2009)
Naked And The Simple Truth music CDs
$16.45 "dark"...."foreboding"...disillusionment"..."Allentown".... "wanderlust".... "Pink-Floyd'ish"... - Bob Robinson, Chestnut Bay Studios."A new CD by singer-songwriter Adrian Otterman, "Floating in the Whale," shows how creative and sophisticated homegrown music has become. Otterman, whose day job is as an attorney in Barre, has produced a record that highlights his exceptional singing ability and his vision of the aural landscape he has set his songs in.Otterman produced and recorded this album at a home studio in Orange Heights [Vermont]. His credits on the CD include writing and singing all the songs, playing many instruments, and mixing the recording. In all, this is a very fine sounding album, showing how well a musician with a vision can go in realizing the sound he hears in his head. The vision Otterman appears to have is of dark songs, with titles such as "Green Mountain Skies," "Promise Not to Cry," "Drive," "I Breathe" and the title song, "Floating in the Whale." He uses digital technology to place the lead guitars, played by Daniel Before and Andy O'Connor, in deep reverberation mode as if played from some deep cave hidden in the hills. The lead guitars also seem set to the highest sustain levels attainable. Think Carlos Santana as an example. Both guitarists deliver excellent performances with an aching sensibility to the messages the singer delivers. Not a note seems misplaced or hurried. The bass guitar lines, performed by Before, Bill Richardson and Josh Hayford, also seem to be dug deep into the mix.The music, while based in the rock idiom, has a musical theater feel to it. Otterman's music and delivery reminds me of show tunes, perhaps something ...
