Caliente! Latin Pop Hits CD music
$15.29 KEEP ON LOVING YOU is contemporary country legend Reba McEntire's debut recording on the semi-independent Valory Music Company label's Starstruck imprint. Despite its release on an indie, the production and approach are anything but.. The cream of country music's current chart crop wrote its 13 songs, and it's a radio-friendly collection showcasing McEntire's adaptability. The title track, a midtempo ballad saturated in compressed guitars, Hammond B-3, and a chorus of fiddles, reveals that McEntire is a belter who can hang with the ...

| | Shake Well Oh Well CD (2008)
Caliente! Latin Pop Hits CD music
$10.15 New York City indie rockers The Shake are back with a spanking new album, just two years after their debut rocked the scene. Well, Oh Well is the mature, older brother to The Shakeâs 2006âs freshman opus Kick It. âWeâve really grown as songwriters,â says lead vocalist Jon Merkin about this natural progression. âThe songs are more in depth and serious while keeping the balls-to-the-wall music.âTheir sophomore album is composed of well-crafted tunes that the band members spent a lot of time perfecting - all while managing full college course loads. âWe realized that if we took more time to think about the lyrics, chord structures and patterns, we could come up with a better album,â Merkin further explains. Bassist Jeremy Stein attributes the great songs on Well, Oh Well to the fact that the band members are now more comfortable playing with one another. âThere was room to show off our musical identities a little bit more and everyone got a chance to shine a bit,â he says. âYou get more of an eclectic feel with this album.âWell, Oh Wellâs 10 tracks feature a unique blend of rock from both the old and new schools. Some songs have a harder edge, while others lean towards the alternative end of the spectrum - all laced with a pop tinge. Its title track is an instantly infectious song that encapsulates the emotion of the entire album. From songs about alcoholism (the great album opener âShots,â is a real rocker), to suicide (the mellow âEdenâs Shore,â), to loneliness (âYNAââa snappy song you can dance to!), to breakups (âIsnât It Obvious?â), The Shakeâs new album focuses on subject matter that is sure to touch home with all listeners.âThe songs are very upbeat and exciting but have lyrics that are more mature, which we thought was an interesting contrast,â Merkin says. Lead guitarist Eliad Shapiro agrees. âMany of the lyrics focus on telling the stories of tragic characters that we felt would resonate with the listener. âFamilies & Christmas Treesâ is about an old man reflecting on a bitter life. âYouâre Still Young, Melanieâ tells the story of a homeless man. âGood Girlâ is about a prostitute you feel sympathy for because she doesnât want to lead her life as she does, but ends up having no choice.âAn instrumental ditty, an acoustic ballad and a cover of a famous tune by The Who further allowed the foursome the freedom to experiment musically. âThe instrumental track, âSpinning,â is fun to play and a cool thing to listen to,â states Shapiro. âThe acoustic âEdenâs Shoreâ gives the album a nice bit of diversity. And, âThis Is My Generationâ I was nervous to put on the CDâbecause you just donât tamper with a song thatâs a part of the rock and roll cannonâbut Iâm proud we did because we nailed it doesnât sound like any other cover of it that Iâve heard.â Why is that? Maybe because the songâs intro features ...
