 The Birds Are Still Soaring High
With over 78 years of history behind them, The Dixie Hummingbirds are a cornerstone of quartet gospel in particular and modern group harmony in general. The Birds give the listener a look into their creative genius by presenting songs from their past along with a few new compositions. This release by The Dixie Hummingbirds takes a page from their Atlanta International Recording company days as the group returns to recording in the traditional gospel mode. This album also represents the return of the Bass voice (Cornell McKnight) in the group’s harmony since the passing of the Birds longtime bass singer Willie Bobo in 1976. Fans of the old school sound of the Birds will be pleasantly surprised with the modern arrangements of favorites like “Christian’s Automobile”, “Don’t Let Me Fall”, “Love Your Fellow Man”, and “Ezekiel Saw The Wheel” to name a few.
