The soundtrack for Darren Aronofsky's film, about a man's thousand-year quest to save the life of the woman he loves, runs the sonic gamut from ethereal evocations of 16th-century Spain to futuristic soundscapes, with the added extras of dramatic percussion flourishes and some spectacular choral arrangements.

For those of who have loved and lost...
This is one of the most entrancing soundtracks. If you have ever lost someone you truly loved this music will speak to places in your heart and soul. It is thought-proving, sad, inspiring and hopeful. It speaks to the broken heart and the never dying hope that lives within us all. Truly a masterpiece.

This movie & soundtrack were a complete surprise. The day it is released I am buying the DVD. Hugh Jackman was absolutely brilliant in this role: I felt that he was truly losing the love of his life. Clint Mansell has somehow magically captured the ache of love lost & sorrow of death, wrapped it in hope & light. I will be on the look out for this composer in the future.
