Afro-Cuban All Stars and Buena Vista Social Club pianist Rubén González didn't release his first solo album until 1997, when he was 78-years-old, but that didn't stop his playing from being enjoyed by thousands and thousands of fans, both new and old. Most of the songs here are also found on his few solo records (Indestructible, Sentimiento, neither of which came out on a major label), but there are a few pieces ("Olga la Tamalera," "Yo Sabía Que un Día," and the medley of "Santa Isabel de las Lajas," "Loco de Amor," and "Convergencia," which are relatively well-known Latin hits) that are harder to find and lend this compilation some credence.
