Toxic Touch music CDs
$10.65 Loudness was a Japanese hard rock quartet that had numerous hit albums in the 80's and early 90's. Thunder In The East reached number 74 on the Billboard charts in 1985. Wounded Bird. 2003.
With 1985's Thunder in the East, Loudness were faced with the daunting challenge of conquering heavy metal fans outside their homeland of Japan for the first time. Knowing that their early sound might prove a tad too heavy and complex for American audiences, the foursome rose to the occasion by dispensing their most melodic ...

In the early '80s, a new musical movement, dubbed "The New Wave of British Metal," swept across England. The conspirators include such heavy bands as Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, and Def Leppard, but Judas Priest is often credited as the originator and leader of the pack. Rob Halford's vocal histrionics and the dual guitar attack of ...

Toxic Touch CD music
$18.59 While the Scorpions have certainly had enough radio and MTV hits over the years to warrant an expansive "best-of" set (or in their case, countless "best-of" sets), to title such a collection of their's No. 1's is a bit of a headscratcher. And all because of one, teeny tiny reason -- the group hasn't scored numerous number one hits anywhere in the world (let alone 32 of 'em, which is how many selections are included here). But if you're willing to overlook that marketing flaw and you're on the hunt for a double-disc set of the group's more mainstream material, then 2006's No. 1's contains many Scorpions favorites. As expected, you'll find radio-ready rockers ...

$14.99 ZONA TANGO / BRAZIL TANGO Electro bossa & tangoZona Tango is the electrotango project led by the Argentine composer and multinstrumentalist Pedro Menéndez (keyboards, bandoneon, guitar, flute, sax, trombone, voice and composition).Year 2004 - after a long stay in Spain and France featuring music of his own and performing traditional tango on festivals and milongas- Pedro Menéndez, wellknown for an unique trayectory of restless quests on tango and Argentina folk music, came back to Buenos Aires feeling the need to experiment and go beyond the fusion of modern tango and electronic sounds adding elements of jazz, latin and afro-american rythms, creating music using a varied and not very conventional instrumentation. At that moment he joined bandoneonist Oscar Fasanelli and Maurice Lévar (electronics) and finally the first CD of ‘Zona Tango’: ‘Electrónico’ was born.As a reflect of the inevitable change and evolution of the urban cosmopolitan music, and without leaving the first ‘Electronico’ project by an intense live activity, on the beginning of May 2006 Zona Tango released his second discographic work introducing to the world the first revolutionare mixture between electrotango and bossa nova: ‘BrazilTango’, featuring 9 original compositions of Pedro Menéndez and arrangements of the famous pieces “Adiós Nonino (Astor Piazzolla) and “Corcovado” (A.C.Jobim).The ...

| | Rob Parton Just One Of Those CD (2007)
Toxic Touch album
$13.05 The big-band era may be more than 60 years in the past and big bands are not going to "come back," but the number of part-time stage bands playing in the U.S. remains a very impressive number. Usually headed by an arranger and somewhat inspired by Stan Kenton, the orchestras might perform in public once a month and if they are fortunate they record once a year, with the musicians spending much of the time working elsewhere (including sometimes out of music altogether). Trumpeter Rob Parton has been leading his Jazztech Big Band since 1984 and has made a steady series of rewarding recordings. He does not arrange himself but he has a large book of exciting charts. On Just One of Those Things, which was recorded on different dates in 2005 and 2007 (Parton's drummer, pianist, and one of his altoists and trombonists changed in the meantime), has arrangements by Tom Garling, Paul McKee, Tom Matta, Don Schamber, Chris Madsen, and the late Frank Mantooth. "Infant Eyes" and Mantooth's reworking of "You've Changed" are features for Parton, who surprisingly does not hit any high notes on those showcases, instead taking very credible jazz solos. Among the other musicians who are well featured are tenor saxophonist Mark Colby, trombonists Tim Coffman and Tom Garling, trumpeter Terry Cornell, and pianist Jo Ann Daugherty. While the overall music may not be all that innovative, the music swings, the arrangements are modern, and the soloists are all top-notch. Fans of current big bands will find this of strong interest. ~ Scott Yanow
It is hard to believe that I have been putting bands together for over twenty three years! It seems like yesterday that John Laverty and I were talking about the first rehearsal and what we should be playing back in 1984.I want to thank my family for dealing with the loud noises that are often accompanied with these projects when recording and mixing. I certainly wouldn't be able to do these projects without their support. Thanks Kristy, Mitchell, Louis, Sarah and to Joe who is serving in the California Army National Guard Infantry. The band in its’ Chicago life has come a long way and has proved to be one of the best anywhere. What I am most proud of is the identity that has emerged. Arrangers such as Tom Matta, Tom Garling, Chris Madsen, Jim Martin, Paul McKee and our new west coast friend Don Schamber, are mostly responsible for this identity. It is the sound and personality that distinguish this band from other very good bands. In addition to the arrangements, it is the collection of musicians that also determines the personality of the band. I have been very lucky to have a core of musicians who have been playing in the band for over fifteen years! These people are my close friends who are also considered to be some of the best jazz musicians in Chicago. I am proud to have each and every one of them on the bandstand every time we play. I have to recognize Bob Frankich, Brian Jacobi and Bob Rummage who have been with me since the start of the Chicago based band and particularly Bob Rummage who has been the regular drummer ...
