5 stars FIVE STARS NOT ENOUGH.
This is one of the best albums to emerge from the post hippie era. It was mostly overlooked at the time- the organic sound was mistaken for lack of polish. The spontaneity was mistaken for slackness. Listening to it today, it is a clean, astringent sound. The songs twist and turn, but the playing at times is almost telepathic , despite minimal takes. It sounds just fine as remastered stereo, but the 5.0 mix opens it out in a natural and enhancing way. The accapella tracks are indeed cathedral like. The cover notes explain a lot. This is an album to get involved with- it reveals its mystery slowly.
