| | Bill Cosby Is A Very Funny Fellow - Right CD (1963)
Radio Gold Volume 1 CD music
$8.69 Recorded live at The Bitter End, New York. Includes liner notes by Allan Sherman.
Bill Cosby's 1963 debut, on Warner Brothers, was a hit, but in retrospect his best material was yet to come, on subsequent recordings for the same label. He hadn't yet developed his cast of characters, his storytelling style or his capacity for stretching out like the jazzmen ...

| | Ray Stevens Box Set CDs (2006) Box Set
Radio Gold Volume 1 album
$16.15 The eclectic career of gospel/country/comedy artist Ray Stevens creates a big challenge for anyone attempting to make a representational "best-of" album. He jumped from genre to genre as often as he switched labels, leaving compilers with mountains of unrelated song subjects and complicated licensing issues. When the 2005 Box Set was announced, Stevens' fans had high hopes for a comprehensive, career-spanning collection -- and it was -- kind of. After a successful television-only campaign, Curb Records released the set in 2006 and sales proved that the Stevens' market was still strong in the U.S.. Faithful fan support does not necessarily guarantee that a collection is good though. The Box Set is a sprawling three-disc affair (providing more than an ample amount of time to give the man plenty of room to show all of his facets), but ...
| | Deepak Chopra Gift Of Love: Deepak & Friends Present Music Inspired By The Love Poems Of Rumi CD (1998)
Radio Gold Volume 1 CD music
$17.99 Adam Plack and Yaron Fuchs provide the Persian-flavored musical backdrop of A GIFT OF LOVE, but the real focus of this inspirational recording is the poetry of the 13th-century Sufi poet Rumi. Deepak Chopra is joined by a host of famous friends including Madonna, Martin Sheen, Demi Moore, Goldie Hawn, and others, reciting Rumi's poems about life, love, spiritual awareness, and worldly delights. The result is an album that will soothe both the ear and the soul.
Deepak Chopra's album features the voices of Madonna, Demi Moore, Martin Sheen, and other stars, providing the project with instant allure, while bringing in a little street cred via civil rights activist Rosa Parks and Buddhist scholar Robert Thurman. Chopra would have been wise to hand over his own readings to the other performers, ...
| | Pussy Galore Dial 'M' For Motherfucker CD (1989)
Radio Gold Volume 1 music CDs
$6.89 At the time of its release, and even to this day, there are few albums--sonically, conceptually, and aesthetically--quite like Pussy Galore's DIAL M FOR MOTHERFU*KER. From the title alone it's obvious that the band is out to offend, but even had it been called soemthing less outrageous, Pussy Galore's brazen, almost heartless deconstruction of what was once so proufly called rock & roll would have surely risen the ire of purists. Comprising such indie rock heavyweights as Jon Spencer, Neil Haggerty (Royal Trux and Howling Hex), Julie Cafriz (Free Kitten), and Bob Bert (Sonic Youth, Chrom Cranks); Pussy Galore played a hig-concept, deliberatly low-brow blend of arty noise-terror ...

| | Jerky Boys 2 CD (1994) Edited
Radio Gold Volume 1 album
$14.69 Hello, may I please speak to a Mr. Ben Dover. Hi, do you have Prince Albert in a can? Well, don't you think you should let him out? In the tradition of such venerable ring and run classics, comes this second Triple XXX rated party album from the Jerky Boys.
JERKY BOYS 2 is a compendium of crank calls, with cartoon-sized goofers on one end, and John Q. Public goofees on the other. While some goofees are considerably less credulous ...
| | Tadpoles Know Your Ghosts CD (1997)
Radio Gold Volume 1 CD music
$6.69 Producer Kramer (Shimmy Disc, Bongwater) worked hard with Tadpole to work sound into every nook and cranny of the four tracks here. The dual guitars and vocals are a diffuse nebula of space rock. These soaking sounds bring to mind easy comparisons to Spacemen 3 and Galaxie 500. Layer upon layer is dovetailed together for a final product that is dense, to a certain extent psychedelic. Instead of giving into mere aural saturation and rhythm there is enough of a weird melody to each track to make the EP as listenable as Syd Barret-era Pink Floyd. ~ Tom Schulte
Tadpoles, based in Hoboken, NJ, disbanded in 2000 after releasing 4 critically acclaimed studio albums, 1 live album and 1 E.P. all on their own Bakery Records label (except for their last studio album, Whirlaway, which was released on Australia's Camera Obscura Records.) The group was formed by vocalist/guitarist, Todd Parker and original drummer, Michael Kite Audino in New York City in 1990.Members of the New York group, HIT, bassist David Max & guitarist/vocalist Nick Kramer joined in 1992 and Adam Boyette became the full time drummer in 1996.Career highlights include a four-star review in Rolling Stone magazine (May 1996) for their second studio album, Far Out, which like all of their studio albums (except Whirlaway) was produced by Shimmy Disc/Bongwater mogul, Kramer. The group was also featured in the first Terrastock festival in Providence, Rhode Island in 1997 and their performance ...
