| | Nathan, Al & Bluestreak Blues And Black Coffee CD Nathan, Al & Bluestreak Discography of CDs
Al Nathan - aka Luther Crenshaw - has been music teacher in the Utica School District, since 1973. He also attended Berklee School of Music and worked the Boston music scene throughout the late 60's and 70's. He returned to the central NY in the early 80's and now plays frequently in Utica, Syracuse, and the Adirondacks. Al also owns and operates Nathan's Bakery in Old Forge, where people come to eat bagels, drink coffee and listen to blues music (this served as the inspiration for one of the songs on BlueStreak's new CD - "Blues and Black Coffee"). BlueStreak is Al Nathan (keyboards and vocals), John Hutson (guitar and vocals), Darryl Mattison (drums, percussion and vocal ideas) and Dan Porter (bass and vocals). John Hutson, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, is a veteran cabaret and club performer who can be heard playing electric guitar most weekends somewhere in Central New York. His diverse and eclectic career has taken him across the country, from Indiana to Boston to California and finally to central NY. In 2005, after engineering and producing 25+ CD projects for other artists at his recording studio, he released his own effort, 'I Can't Remember This Song'. 'Count the Tears' from that CD is featured on the MVBS compilation. John also appears on 'Square Little Mama' by Tom Townsley, and seven of the cuts on the CD were recorded in his studio. Hutson has worked with Al Nathan and BlueStreak on a regular basis for the past two years, and he played both guitar and bass on their latest recording, as well as doing all the engineering and production. Darryl Mattison has a long history of playing drums and percussion, from roadwork in the 60's and 70's with the likes of the Chessmen, Bad Dog NY, and the Solid Oak Band, to more recent stints with Puttin' On the Ritz, Seven Turns, King Kool and his Royal Blues, and Out of the Blue. A versatile drummer and percussionist, Darryl has frequently been called to fill in for such acts as Lil' Georgie and the Shufflin' Hungarians, the Paul Angerosa Band, Blueprints, and the Tom Healey Band Blues And Black Coffee Music Nathan, Al & Bluestreak Blues And Black Coffee Songs | 1. | Wrap Around Woman |

$8.15 NATURALLY has stood up over the years as a perfect debut. When released in 1971, it introduced J.J. Riding on the success and easy blues feel of Eric Clapton's cover of ...

| | Jae Sinnett Better Half CD (1999)
Blues And Black Coffee music CDs
$15.25 Over the course of his four previous albums, drummer Jae Sinnett worked territory similar to that of the "new traditionalists." However, with The Better Half, Sinnett takes a giant leap beyond those confines, sewing together a colorful quilt of fresh and contemporary musical ideas. Although the instrumentation is primarily acoustic, there is a contemporary feel to much of this disc. "Tony's Hop," a tribute to Tony Williams, is reminiscent of Weather Report (without the synths), with sax ace Chris Potter essaying a distinctively Wayne Shorter-ish tone on soprano. "Chris Cross" and "Bozzio's Jackets" display Sinnett's love of the Yellowjackets' music, while "Jody Ellen" is an attractive ballad giving Potter and pianist Allen Farnham plenty of space to stretch out. Farnham also delivers a quietly beautiful solo piano stroll through Sinnett's "Another Fall."
As on his earlier releases, Sinnett keeps the compositions and overall performances in the forefront, with the few drum solos being tasteful and musically appropriate. He and his regular trio-mates Farnham and bassist Terry Burrell evidence the seamless musical rapport that can only come from many nights playing together, and Potter blends in as though he were a regular band member as well. His playing is superb throughout, and his performance here adds more fuel to his rapidly rising reputation.
The Better Half will surprise those who have followed Jae Sinnett's career as a leader, but the surprise is all to the good. This is a disc that is full of fine compositions and excellent playing, one that points Sinnett promisingly forward into "the better half" of his musical career. ~ Jim Newsom
