Lacks cohesion
Minkus - La Bayadere This is another performance where parts are better than the whole with little chemistry and only the occasional special moment to spark the audience. Mukhamedov is consistently good of course compared to Asylmuratova who is frequently not secure. Bussell is pert,David Drew makes a good Rajah and the Bronze Idol solo of Kumakawa in Act 3 is technically superb. Regrettably Dowell overacts the High Brahmin,the lighting overall is not used well and the sets look tired. The corps de ballet manage the Shades act well enough but overall the RB suffers in comparison to the Paris opera ballet version which is much more interesting.
