Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles Though it is one of America's most popular sporting events, the association of NASCAR with uneducated, backwards rednecks seems cemented into the American consciousness. So the brilliant comedy TALLADEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY, is not just a sidesplitting series of slapstick pratfalls and over-the-top accents, but a lens into an important part of American culture. Comic sensation Will Ferrell (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, ANCHORMAN) plays the title character, Ricky Bobby, a figure who is at once laughably ridiculous, infuriating, and loveable. Ricky Bobby, with his bleached-blond wife, cute sons Walker and Texas Ranger, and dim-bulb sidekick Cal (award-winning actor John C. Reilly, flexing his considerable comedic muscle), has got it made. He is NASCAR's most popular driver, and nearly every aspect of his life is endorsed by a recognizable product. Yet his racetrack kingdom is not unshakeable: two formidable opponents, his unpleasable father, Reese (Gary Cole), and a flashy new opponent, the openly gay French import Jean (played by a hilarious Sasha Baron Cohen, known to millions as Ali G), threaten to hijack his crown and expose his vulnerabilities. Though many of the jokes are easy laughs (having Ferrell run around shirtless is a guaranteed guffaw-fest), the script (co-written by Farrell and Adam McKay) is nuanced and intelligent, lending its characters much more sympathy and complexity than dumber comedies are want to do. And every performer--from Ferrell to Amy Adams (as Susan, Bobby's fawning assistant)--tackles his or her part with joy and relish. A knee-slapper with smarts and savvy, TALLADEGA NIGHTS ensures Ferrell's position as one of comedy's shining talents. Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby Reviews: 5 stars out of 5 -- "A pacy, racy, relentless blitz of big, fat belly laughs..."
-- Andy Lowe, Total Film 4 stars out of 4 -- "TALLADEGA shifts gears dramatically as the zany cast orbiting Ferrell come into their own....[With] some brilliant comedy moments..."-- Uncut Staff, Uncut "[U]ndeniably funny....A film that generates significant mileage out of both celebrating and humbling American hickdom."-- Ali Jaafar, Sight and Sound "TALLADEGA NIGHTS takes some very funny cheap shots...[The races] are scorchingly shot, and they lend the movie a zest that was missing from ANCHORMAN." -- Grade: B
-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly "Ricky Bobby is at once a creature of pure, extravagant absurdity and a curiously vulnerable, sympathetic figure."

FUNNY AS HELL!!!!!! I look at the all of the other reveiws, and I'm like man, how can you not love this movie? Will Ferrell is the funniest man in the movie scene right now other than Ben Stiller, and Vince Vaughn. You people have got to get a sense of humour. Go Ricky! SHAKE AND BAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! All American Comedy Alright, not as good as anchorman, I admit, still, the film is funny, and seeing will ferrel again is nice, since he, steve carrel, ben stiller, jack black, owen wilson, and vince vaughn are basically claiming the best comedies since jim carreys comedic prime back in the 90's (although he now does great work in dramatic roles, the number 23 comes out within the next year). Anyway, i enjoyed most of the film, and I must say that my opinion is a little biased (love will ferrel movies!). Submitted by Ty Redford (Poquoson, VA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
was that elvis costello and mos def? man, this movie had me rolling at points. some of it was very cheesy (not like anchorman which was artistically cheesy)but it had its moments and some great will-ferrell-movie one-liners which everyone eats up. if you're a fan i highly recommend you go see it, but dont go in expecting it to be better or anything like anchorman because that movie is in a league with few others when it comes to ingenius over the top comedys. I dont want to give the impression that the movie dissapoints because i think a lot of people will like it, some may even like it better than anchorman. enough of my ranting, go see it! Alice In Chains: Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell (vocals, guitar); Michael Starr (bass); Sean Kinney (drums). Additional personnel: Tom Araya (background vocals). Recorded in 1992. Dirt is Alice in Chains' major artistic statement and the closest they ever came to recording a flat-out masterpiece. It's a primal, sickening howl from the depths of Layne Staley's heroin addiction, and one of the most harrowing concept albums ever recorded. Not every song on Dirt is explicitly about heroin, but Jerry Cantrell's solo-written contributions (nearly half the album) effectively maintain the thematic coherence -- nearly every song is imbued with the morbidity, self-disgust, and/or resignation of a self-aware yet powerless addict. Cantrell's technically limited but inventive guitar work is by turns ...

| | Korn Greatest Hits Vol. 1 CD (2004)
Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby DVD
$9.75 This release includes a bonus DVD. Korn: Jonathan Davis (vocals, bagpipe); Brian Welch, James Shaffer (guitar); Fieldy (bass guitar); David Silveria (drums). A decade after changing the metal landscape drastically with their self-titled debut juggernaut, Korn got the best-of treatment just as their standing began to seem increasingly shaky, commercially at least. Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 sadly isn't the disc it ideally could be, but it nonetheless summarizes how steady Korn were over the years, developing their sound oh so slightly from one album to the next and, in the process, coming up with several unquestionably killer songs every go-round. The band's six full-lengths resulted in enough of those killer songs to fill this best-of to the brim; in fact, there are quite a few more that could have been compiled here if there were more space on this single-disc release (a double disc would have been definitive). As it stands, however, practically every song here is a highlight in and of itself, with the sole exceptions of the below-par "Alone I Break" and a pair of album-opening ...
| | Mudvayne Lost And Found CD (2005)
Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby movie DVD
$8.99 Mudvayne: Chad Gray (vocals); Greg Tribbett (guitar); Ryan Martinie (bass guitar); Matt McDonough (drums). It's been three years for Mudvayne, three years when metal started to reject its "rap" and "nu" prefixes. At first, Lost and Found reflects that realignment. Vocalist Chad Gray and his mates have nixed the nicknames and makeup for their third Epic full-length, and they try to focus on songs instead of heavy music shtick. However, they equate getting real with the melodramatic plead that interrupts the razor-sharp main part of "Choices," and Gray can't overcome lines like "IMN"'s "No one/No one could ever understand/This life." The song is about suicide, which is very serious. But yelling "F*ck this sh*t!" over thudding rhythms just ...
