| | Incognito Bee & Things & Flowers CD Incognito Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Incognito's second release of 2006, BEES & THINGS & FLOWERS, finds the London-based acid-jazz ensemble--led by mastermind Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick--offering up a collection of covers, remixes, and previously unreleased tunes. Featuring a wide array of vocalists, including Carleen Anderson and Maysa, the set is consistently engaging, particularly when its revisits and reworks soulful Incognito classics such as "Always There" and "Deep Waters."

Bee & Things & Flowers Music Incognito Bee & Things & Flowers Songs Bee & Things & Flowers Music Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) the COG is always nice Incognito has long been one of my faves....especially when Maysa Leak is on board! But I have to admit this is probably my least favorite album to date. There are some new reworkings of old tried-and-true songs, both thiers and others'. But some of the songs ended up leaving much to be desired, as in the case of Always There and Deep Waters. They were clearly done right the first time!!! Nevertheless, I have already listened to this CD several dozen times by now, and I know the COG is always nice. Bluey can do no wrong to me. Mellow Might Bluey and his revolving band of musicians pull it back a notch and mellow out on this one. The vocals are up front and the arrangements are sparse in volume, yet rich in delivery. A definite after hours retreat after a summer day "in the sunshine". Incognito stays hip without having to check the pop culture thermometer. Weakest of the Mighty Incognito is an awesome unit with a lovely collection of soul/acid jazz/dance fusion collections, highlighted by thoughtful arrangements and strong vocal performances. 'Bees...' gives alternative, stripped-down, versions of several of their hits and covers several classics. It's not bad, just not as mighty as their other works. If this were the only or first Incognito record someone were to hear, they'd wonder why Incognito has such a stellar reputation. Unless you're an Incognito collector, buy any other Incognito project instead of this one. Submitted by St.Davey (Windham, Me.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Boney James Pure CD (2004)
Bee & Things & Flowers CD music
$9.59 Nine albums into his career, Boney James makes a grab for the smooth-jazz crown with PURE, an outing that finds him working with a mix of soul and jazz luminaries. James ups the stakes by taking over the production reins (in addition to co-writing every song). Still front and center with his beloved tenor saxophone, this Grammy-nominated artist shifts to soprano sax for the harmony-soaked Bilal duet "Better with Time" and the silk sheets-and-champagne slow jam "Break of Dawn," featuring up-and-coming Detroit crooner Dwele.
Debi Nova adds her lovely vocals to the beat-driven "Appreciate," a cut that wouldn't sound out of place on a Toni Braxton or Brandy album. Instrumentals are still the focus, however, as revealed on the light funk of "Here She Comes" and the snappy "Stone Groove" (featuring ...

Bee & Things & Flowers music CDs
$11.69 It's funny how every time another phenomenally funky, brass-fired groove party comes out in the shape of another solid Incognito date, the label touts it as "retro." This time, Narada Jazz's press materials focus on all of group mastermind Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick's influences in order to remind listeners that he's a child of the '70s. ...
