In addition to being one of the world's most noted tenors, Placido Domingo has turned his talents to conducting. In 2001 he conducted the Berlin Philharmonic's annual summer concert, which yearly devotes itself to a particular country's theme. In this case the country of Spain was selected and among the works performed that night were Vives' "Fandango," Strauss' "Spanischer Marsch," Rimsky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol," Massenet's "Meditation" and others.
Placido Domingo conducts the Berlin Philharmonic in a concerto of short pieces with a Spanish flavor, including works by De Sarasate, Vives, Chabrier, Johann Strauss II, Torroba, Rimsky-Korsakov, Serrano, Moncayo, Luna, Massenet and Lincke. Features Sarah Chang, violinist and Ana Maria Martinez, soprano.
