Your classic 'one man band' in the vein of The The, Nine Inch Nails, & Lightning Seeds. I'm drawn to Science Fiction with a decidedly spiritual side-Blade Runner, Dune, J.G Ballard, Doria Russles 'The Sparrow'-I wanted the music to be cinematic, supernatural, and futuristic, dealing with alienation and, ultimately, hope. Moving, evolving ambient musick that stays on the edge of "ambient" but continues to engage the listener at all times.The raw sound materials for this 6 track CD were provided by Austere and subsequently manipulated and sequenced by AAS. The result is an ambient work inspired by the ideas of space and distance.These cold reaches can be heard in 'exo-bio', while 'blu" and 'atul' speak of the ocean's depths and the wildness of the unexplored. "blackfilm" and "unquiet" are much more claustrophobic, each mapping some secret, inner space that we ourselves are sometimes afraid to explore. My name is Eric Mattys, and I make music that sounds the way I feel at two in the morning and I don’t understand why I’m still awake and the wind is howling at me reminding me that I’m alone and that, no matter how many people surround me, I won’t be able to change this. I’m strongly influenced by Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. Whenever I try to write a song that is more upbeat it usually comes out sounding manic.
