. The inspiration started more than 20 years ago when I would listen to Jesus Christ Superstar endlessly. Then came the 80's, and the synthesizer, Heaven 17, Human League, Alphaville, Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, and then... Strange Angels. Your classic 'one man band' in the vein of The The, Nine Inch Nails, & Lightning Seeds. I'm drawn to Science Fiction with a decidedly spiritual side-Blade Runner, Dune, J.G Ballard, Doria Russles 'The Sparrow'-I wanted the music to be cinematic, supernatural, and futuristic, dealing with alienation and, ultimately, hope. Deadly music CDs
$12.78 Austrian synth-bass-drums trio Radian has been making austere, arty post-rock (remember when that was a thing?) music since the late '90s. But unlike Tortoise or other, related acts, Radian has never seemed particularly interested in human concepts of beauty. In a way, their stark instrumental tracks recall Autechre more than any ordinary band -- alienation ...

Deadly CD music
$12.15 On their third album, 2009's Midnight Soul Serenade, Heavy Trash keep delivering the good old rock & roll, rockabilly, and hillbilly soul that their first two albums handed out like candy at a Fourth of July parade. Jon Spencer and Matt Verta-Ray hit their stride right away on their debut and continue to be nothing short of great. They make no great changes to their sound here; it's still loose as geese on the rockers and pleasantly spooky on the ballads. Spencer and Verta-Ray still conjure all kinds of unhinged noise from the guitars, yet remain firmly within the bounds of the songs. Best of all, Spencer fully embraces his role as greasy, rockabilly ...

| | Abstract Audio Systems Evergone CD (2004)
Deadly album
$10.15 Machine Tribe Recordings and The Sound-O-Mat are proud to present 'evergone', a collaborative effort between Abstract Audio Systems of New York City and ambient composers Austere, from Portland, Ore. Moving, evolving ambient musick that stays on the edge of "ambient" but continues to engage the listener at all times. The raw sound materials for this 6 track CD were provided by Austere and subsequently manipulated and sequenced by AAS. The result is an ambient work inspired by the ideas of space and distance. These cold reaches can be heard in 'exo-bio', while 'blu" and 'atul' speak of the ocean's depths and the wildness of the unexplored. "blackfilm" and "unquiet" are much more claustrophobic, each mapping some secret, inner space that we ourselves are sometimes afraid to explore. The title track returns us to the light and reminds us of the comfortable spaces we build around ourselves. | | Eric Mattys You Don't Have To Close Your Eyes CD (2007)
Deadly music CDs
$10.15 Rip through the randomness of the reality realm like a vacuum dirt bag laughing at a house wife. Forget flowers and fame in favor of flames. Die to live and live to die in short explosions of self destruction. Let go of your literal linguistics to lie for electroshock libations, limping languid alone. Telegraph timid contemplations for timelessness and the teams of torn. Disenfranchise from the diva drama delegating dollar-store tunes for those that dream more than they drool, for those that think more than they fool, and for those honest more than cool. My name is Eric Mattys, and I make music that sounds the way I feel at two in the morning and I don’t understand why I’m still awake and the wind is howling at me reminding me that I’m alone and that, no matter how many people surround me, I won’t be able to change this. I’m strongly influenced by Elliott Smith and Nick Drake. Whenever I try to write a song that is more upbeat it usually comes out sounding manic. I love Sonic Youth and the Velvet Underground, but I’m still working on putting together a full band. I also like the mixed stylings of Tom Waits. I don’t think I sound just like these folks, but if you like them you might also like my music. I grew up in Colorado Springs. I went to school in Los Angeles. I live in Colorado Springs now because I can live here cheaply. It’s very politically polarized here if you’re politically inclined at all. You Don’t Have to Close Your Eyes does not delve into this red-state blue-state division which ...
