| | Meaghan Owens No Whiskey In A Good Girl's River CD Meaghan Owens Discography of CDs
"Songs with Glamour and Grit."Owens writes and plays indie-folk, alt-country americana kinda music. Lyrics are sweet and brutal, depicting the American landscape in all its glories and hardships. Her characters are nearing extinction but never letting go. You'll find wanderlust addicts, widowed men in love, political heartbreakers, truckstop hookers, and small town members of the disappearing rural countrysides."Owens's voice is sweet and strong, like a lilac bush or a brandy old fashion" (Snider-Edler onmilwaukee ). What exactly does a brandy old fashion mixed with fresh lilacs sound like? Take a listen to these songs melding the smokey old bar room and the sweet lavender flower. This fall Meaghan is promoting her debut album, "No Whiskey in a Good Girl's River" touring throughout the midwest and southeast."The Avenue of Beauty Tour," idea was born from a mystical intuitive experience after Heidi Spencer bought an antique map from a Wisconsin estate sale to give to her comrad Meaghan Owens. The tour follows the old map and traces Historic Highway 31 between Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN and alot of other places around and in between, stopping surely in the nook of Glasgow, KY for reasons embedded in the blood of the performers. Meaghan and songwriter/filmmaker Heidi Spencer are on tour together this fall along with Meaghan's brother, filmmaker and drummer, Connor Owens of the indie band Aurore Rien. The trio will be performing and documenting the "Avenue of Beauty" experience for a future film. $11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris ...

| | Rault, Michael & The Mixed Signals Sure Are Fun CD (2006)
No Whiskey In A Good Girl's River songs
$13.95 This is rock 'n' roll. The songs on this EP could blow the walls off the garage, with Michael Rault kicking and fighting with his guitar while bandmates Shea Connor and Jon Lent hold things down (and occasionally spin things in new directions). The first two tracks are, to put it simply, kick-ass garage rock. But the real gem here is the last tune, 'The Things You Said.' Here, Rault's vocals are tortured and ragged, while his guitar slams along like a train flying off the tracks, and Connor pummels his drums while Lent makes his bass sing (check out the way the opening bass line melds with Rault's ringing guitar). It leaves you wanting more, and that's a damn good note to leave on. - Eden Munro, Vue WeeklyMICHAEL RAULT & THE MIXED SIGNALSSure Are Fun (CDR EP; No Label) Here's the third to my knowledge, self produced CDR release by this fine young unit. It can't be too long before someone gives 'em the break they deserve. I'd love a vinyl collection of the contents of their last three CDRs. If you're a fan of great raw retro garage bands like The Swingin' Neckbreakers, you'll wanna hear this crew as well as they exhibit the same feisty abandon and play garage rock like it's fresh and new. Here we have three self-penned numbers 'Sure Is Fun', Sold! You're Mine' and 'The Things You Said'. All three kick ass. If you haven't heard them yet, you really ought to. No Whiskey In A Good Girl's River album
$14.79 Fans often tell us that they would like to know more about the Legend of Serundal, and so we have begun work on a trilogy which will tell this magical tale through our music. Here then is Part One..In the beginning, in the regions to the North there was a land known to all as the Kingdom of Roth. It was ruled by the fair and just Asyndwr, Lord of Roth and his beautiful wife Elene whom he loved more dearly than life itself. For many years it was a peaceful happy place until a great darkness fell upon the people when Elene became stricken by, and eventually died from a strange illness. Then everything changed, Asyndwr became bitter and his anger grew inside him. And because of this, all happiness ceased to exist in the Kingdom ...

| | Steve Shapiro & Pat Bergeson Backward Compatible CD (2009)
No Whiskey In A Good Girl's River music CDs
$13.15 Respected studio musicians from New York and Nashville, Steve Shapiro & Pat Bergeson have worked with artists such as: Alison Krauss, Steely Dan, Bill Frisell, Lyle Lovett, Bill Evans, They Might Be Giants, SpyroGyra, Chet Atkins, and Michael McDonald. Their collaborative sound is an original mix of retro and modern, infused with the lush voice of rising-star jazz vocalist Annie Sellick. Their repertoire is infl uenced by jazz standards, swingsters like George Barnes and Victor Feldman, and songwriters like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. On their latest CD, BACKWARD COMPATIBLE, the musicians include bassists Marc Johnson, Doug Weiss, Tim Fergu- son, drummers Clint deGanon, Jochen Rueckert, accordionist Will Barrow, saxophonist Scott Kreitzer, and Sting's backup singers, Jan- ice Pendarvis and Vaneese Thomas. Their previous release, LOW STANDARDS, received praise from many critics. Steve & Pat have been playing together since the late '80's, when they were regulars at New York clubs such as Mikell's, Visiones, The Bitter End, and the 55-Bar. In 1992, Pat joined the group of guitar legend Chet Atkins, and moved to Nashville, where he met Annie. Then, after her stunning 2003 recording, 'No Greater Thrill' (with Pat and organist Joey DeFrancesco), Steve suggested that Pat & Annie come to New York to collaborate. They have been doing so ever since. In the meantime, Annie has followed her own celebrated career. The LA Times said, 'She's a comer.' And The Village Voice raved, 'Annie Sellick has the most pleasing standards voice I've heard in a long time. ' PRESS REVIEWS:--"Its a real shame this music isn't more widely known because these guys are doing something both original and fresh. Players of uncommon presence and a distinct voice on their respective instruments, leaders Shapiro and Bergeson are both fine jazz musicians. Beyond that their concept of revitalizing various popular, jazz standard, and obscure musical numbers, plus their own slightly loopy tunes....adds up to a kind of musical genius....Music of very high accomplishment." (Audiophile Audition)--"From the moment you hear Annie Sellick sing the opening lines from Joni Mitchells song Free Man In Paris, you ...
