Kaleb of SCTAS wrote:If I took all o' the advice I've gathered off of my favorite albums - there would be red doors painted black on every street I crossed... . . What I mean to say is that on a million billion's volcano season EP, lead amb Ryan Smith is doing his best in convincing me to "stay at home until you're old". From the surface of the sounds displayed on the title track, you'd think things were well in an upbeat kinda way - yet dig into the lyrics and you find someone has left my friend to shiver. The angst comes to life on "afraid of ghosts", a track that journeys into the depths of an amber forest - piano in tow - to address whom/whatever it is that is keeping his mind awake at night. Barely a whisper of a voice opens the song, but it's not very long before fences are jumped and the impulse of unleashing commences. A chilling track to say the least - not chillin' - bone chills.. . fragments of skull still clinging to the mahogany-speckled hatchet. The EP comes to a close with "planes land" and a well-placed instrumental (scattershot remix) of the title track. "Planes land" meets the upbeat drive of "volcano season" where Smith is joined, noticeably, by Holly Miranda on backing vocals as the core of amb strike through a roaring canal of intense instrumentation. Listeners worthy of visual interpretation should also invest in the enhanced video for "volcano season". Volcano Season Mini EP album
$14.79 "I'm trying to bring heat to the local hip-hop scene and get us the much needed exposure. " says Michael "Titanium Frame A.K.A. Skills Lane" Kennedy, 23. Entertainer, emcee, and producer - these words merely touch the surface of Frame's many talents. He is the full package. Is Frame just another face in the game, not by far. Frame is a multi-faceted individual who has conceived not one, but two personas for his fans to feast on. Frame has the arrogant stage presence and vicious rhyme flows that have made several artists grasp their infamous reputation. In the close backdrop, Skills provides the sonic soundscape, to complement Frame's various thoughts and ideas. Together Titanium Frame and Skills Lane form the perfect team. The message comes through in his debut album The Bottom Line. This album will give listeners a sneak-peek into how Frame sees life and the game called rap.Frame's early beginnings were at the tender age of eight, when he was challenged to rap by an acquaintance of his older brother. From that point, the addiction to the rhyming and attention that accompanied it began. For the years to come Frame slowly cultivated this art, many times in absence of an actual person. "I was too shy to do it in front of anybody, so I would spit in front of an imaginary crowd, or I would sneak my big brothers L.L. Cool J. tapes (we weren't allowed to listen to rap our house)". Determined to be a known emcee, in 1991 Frame joined a Christian rap group known as C.H.B. (Christian Homeboys). Made up of childhood friends, he was no longer ...

| | Randy McAllister Little Left Of Center CD (2007)
Volcano Season Mini EP album
$22.75 So...What Moves You? Answer: "A Little Left of Center" after you hear it... Randy McAllisterâs 2003 release. Another almost unknown album that saw extremely limited initial, unsupported, distribution. Never-the-less, a landmark collection including an untitled track 11. Randy just keeps delivering. Another 10 original Randy McAllister compositions. Just start playing and you wonât stop. Heâs like a great read. Easy to digest on a superficial level with undertones and subplots that you just canât focus on when the music and the stories are so good. "She Donât Dig Your Chili" is a toe tappin, foot stompin, table rappin good time along with "What Moves You" in the number one slot. "Why" is the kind of song that will rattle your soul. The powerful electric lead-in on this one is a legend maker. McAllisterâs deep, rich, voice more than matches the powerful guitars that drive all but the piano accompanied "Wandering Shepard". Next up "Brother Bobâs Church and Casino" a light hearted, strong rockin spoof of tele-evangelism. "Distractions" is a favorite and "What She Should Have Let Go" is a classy electric ballad, with story lyrics that are a perfect match to the melody. "Trying Not to Lose It in Minnesota" sounds like a cross between Zydeco, Mariachi and Germany beer garden band, 100% fun with another McAllister road story. "Drinkin' to Prevent a Killin'" offers another great ...

| | Fergus McCormick I Don't Need You Now CD (2007)
Volcano Season Mini EP songs
$12.65 On his third album, âI Donât Need You Nowâ, Fergus McCormickâs characters peer into the abyss. In the title track the narrator tells his lover he no longer needs her â he only needs her at a distance â but the emotion in his voice betrays him. The fourteen songs unfold in an arc like letters written to a lost lover. Darkness and isolation and uncertainty subside as his characters find hope and redemption in music and love.McCormick and his band, who include Mike Davis (Norah Jones) on bass, Tim Vaill (Danielle Howle, Preston Clarke) on drums, Riley McMahon (Spottiswoode, Kenny White) on electric guitar and Andy Burton (Ian Hunter, The Zombies) on piano, are at the center of the singer-songwriter resurgence in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in America. From his base in Williamsburg, McCormick has showcased in some of New Yorkâs finest venues, including The Knitting Factory, The Cutting Room, Arleneâs Grocery, Peteâs Candy Store and Galapagos.Following the success of his debut album, 'Fergus McCormick' and his second album, 'Jumping the Gun', which received critical acclaim, McCormick reunited with producer Mike Davis, spending two years recording, producing and mixing 'I Donât Need You Now'. The result is a major step forward for McCormick, who rises above the fray. From Jeff Giles at www.bullz-eye.com (four out of five stars):The loveliest set of acoustic Irish ballads ever to be written by a man from Flemington, New Jersey, Fergus McCormickâs I Donât Need You Now is a treasure waiting to be unearthed by the NPR crowd â 14 delicately woven strands of spun gold, suspended in amber and framed with McCormickâs aching, honey-coated voice. To look at him, you wouldnât think he was more than a year or two out of college, but musically â from the quiet strength of his arrangements to the battle-scarred weariness of his lyrics to the âSide Oneâ and âSide Twoâ that cut the albumâs track listing in half â he sounds like ...
