More seasoned in years than Josh Groban, this Rhodesia-born and Greek-raised and cultured tenor is a veteran stage performer well versed in everything from classical opera to popular musical theater, even Shakespeare. With Peter Asher as executive producer, the idea is to showcase the ethnic and multi-lingual diversity of an extraordinary artist while also nudging him into the mainstream of adult contemporary music. The good news is that he has an equal, relaxed facility for English, Spanish, Italian, and his native Greek, and like Groban, he even engages the hearts of listeners who can't understand the words (translations are included). The general technique is the slow groove beginning with subdued vocals, then a burst of passion and sizzle as the beat and production values pick up. Producer Steve Woods contributes a few new dramatic tracks (the best of these is the soaring, wistful "Vincerň, Perderň"), but it's even more interesting to hear what Frangoulis does with material based on Puccini (the seductive, exotic ballad "Sometimes I Dream") and classics from the film Life is Beautiful (the mystical "Buongiorno Principessa") and Nino Rota (an atmospheric, flamenco-tinged "Canzone Arrabbiata"). Rock fans looking for a connective thread will gravitate to the balmy Italian-to-English version of the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin," whose pop-classical flavor is perfect for an artist trying to bridge those two genres. Born in Defiance Hospital (Defiance, OH) on April 25th 1977, I was the first child of Henry & Brenda Starr of Defiance. At a young age of two, it was determined that I had been born with a rare retina condition causing severe near-sightedness. Declared legally blind by the medical profession, I struggled with simple things as a child. Never knowing my limits, I was always apart of as much I could be. Taking up computer programming at age 11 and the piano at age 12. I graduated Ayersville High School at age 18 completed a year of College at Wright State University. After determining that the College life was not for me, I married young at age 19 to my high school girlfriend Mallena. We had our first child Jacob three years later in 1999 and now have a total of three children, Matthew -2000, and Hannah-2003.Now that my family is complete, I have focused more time on music the last year and have completed my first instrumental album this November 2005. I love to play for the elderly in nursing homes and other venues. Letting them know someone cares is all they needs sometimes. We have so much to learn from them that we can take with us. I have written many more songs to go with the one debuted on the album "This Christmas". My goal is to become a writer for a recording studio and to work daily with great singers and musicians. I hope any one purchasing the album enjoys it and will write to tell me so.
