Eternal, Thy Grief Eternal, and Lord of Putrefaction: D&D characters? Possibly. But they're better known as the bands that preceded and eventually morphed into Electric Wizard, the ensemble that dominated if not out-and-out created the "stoner metal" genre. This compilation gathers some of the best tracks from these two bands, and the extreme, bass-heavy sound; fuzzed-out guitars; and Alastair Crowley-cum-Led Zep lyrics provide apt foreshadowing for what was to come. This is music for Black Masses and dark magi.

Pre-Electric Wizard 1989-1993
$13.59 Featuring 19 tracks from 1978-1982, about half of it previously unreleased, Diamonds and Nuggets should help to fill in the gaps of this major New Wave of British Heavy Metal band's early days. It's characteristic highway-to-hell sounds for metalheads, occasionally slowing down into the power ballad mode, short on outstanding songs or admirable attitude. Odd bonuses for Saxon fans include the early-'70s ...
| | Grade Headfirst Straight To Hell CD (2001) Alternate Version
Pre-Electric Wizard 1989-1993
$12.59 What is it one can say about Grade? They seem to eclipse any classification, although it seems their music is more on the heavier side of things. While Headfirst Straight to Hell does the typical "we're not a hardcore band" thing and plays out a few hardcore songs and then throws in some mellow intro, outro, or instrumental number, Grade can still throw listeners for a loop. Singer Kyle Bishop was made to yell hardcore. There's no doubt about that. Yet, there's something sloppy but cute when he does his singing on the album. In many ways, Headfirst Straight to Hell seems almost a disappointment in light of the territory that Grade could have and should have taken. One recalls when Grade first started ...

Pre-Electric Wizard 1989-1993
$14.59 Andreas Eklund - lead vocals Anders Lundström - guitar/keyboard Mats Hallstensson - guitar/vocals Per Schelander - bass/vocals Tony Andersson - drums HOUSE OF SHAKIRA is a Swedish rock formation that started out in Stockholm around 1991. HOUSE OF SHAKIRA's music doesn't remind of any comparable band. The band's motto is "Try every idea with an open mind", therefore every member of the band contributes with own ideas to make this music unique. HOUSE OF SHAKIRA consists of five very different personalities that only have one thing that ties them together - to write and perform good songs. A good song is the key to make this band function, style or sound doesn't matter as long as the song is good.HOUSE OF SHAKIRA is producing melodic rock of the very highest quality because they mixed hard rock with several music styles - the vocals soar, the melodies rise and the guitars bring it all together. All these components make HOUSE OF SHAKIRA an outstanding listening sensation. ...
