(14 Customer Reviews)
On their sophomore release, HATED ON MOSTLY, the five-member Atlanta outfit Crime Mob follow the same formula that brought them success on their 2004 self-titled debut. The emphasis is still on energetic club bangers with amped-up choruses. Largely self-produced, HATED ON MOSTLY's beats are straight crunk, from zooming synthesizers and crisp drum tracks to cinematic string arrangements. Lil Scrappy, Bohagon, and Pimp C all make guest appearances.

| | Lil Scrappy Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live CD (2006) Parental Advisory
Hated On Mostly CD music
$15.65 Lil Scrappy was already a certified Dirty South superstar (having come up strong under the tutelage of Crunk virtuoso Lil Jon, and recorded alongside fellow Atlanta acts like Trillville) before he signed to 50 Cent's G-Unit South label. His first album for the budding sub-label, BRED 2 DIE BORN 2 LIVE, represents a maturation of sorts for Scrap. Lyrically he's in the same place he's always been, recounting street-hustle scenarios, wallowing in glock-toting gangsta paranoia, and ...
| | Akon Konvicted CD (2006)
Hated On Mostly music CDs
$12.49 Senegalese-born R&B singer Akon returns with the follow-up to his highly acclaimed debut TROUBLE. The talented vocalist shows he's able to juggle a few different R&B styles from seductive love songs ("I Wanna Love You") to deeper dirges of self-reflection ("The Rain") to heartfelt tributes to his homeland ("Mama Africa"). KONVICTED also has its share of hardcore hip-hop, with guest appearances from Styles-P and Snoop Dogg; Eminem even checks in on the official club hit, "Smack That."

| | T I T.I. vs. T.I.P. CD (2007)
Hated On Mostly CD music
$10.09 It seems like T.I. hasn't gotten any rest since he hit it big with his sophomore release--2003's TRAP MUZIK. With an impressive array of LPs, mixtapes, countless guest spots, and enough industry legwork on his Grand Hustle label in the meantime, the self-proclaimed "King of the South" has been steadily putting in work.
With the follow-up to his multi-platinum smash, KING, T.I. carries a concept, pitting one persona against the other on the fittingly titled, T.I. VS. T.I.P. Speaking alternately as the rap industry mogul who moves millions and the street-corner hustler who just can't get the hood out of him, the ...
| | Stevie Wonder My Cherie Amour CD (1969)
Hated On Mostly music CDs
$6.69 Pack a picnic, grab your sweetie, and it's off to a sunny day in the park with MY CHERIE AMOUR. This 1969 Motown staple delivers the young Stevie Wonder wrapped in lush string and horn sections, adding a certain grandiose quality to the music that he seemed to cast off only a few years later. MY CHERIE AMOUR is 12 tracks worth of ...
| | Beck Mellow Gold CD (1994)
Hated On Mostly songs
$12.15 "Loser" was nominated for a 1995 Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
The definitive outsider, Beck is a lonely voice raging against the stifling winds of conformity and complacency in both our mainstream culture and in our stock-model counter-culture (check out one of his first indie releases, "MTV Makes Me Want To Smoke Crack"). Growing up in heartland America, Beck dropped out of high school and cultivated his muse on a combination of traditional folk music and Delta blues, not unlike another legendary outsider from the heartland--Bob Dylan.
Already well-known in the New York and Los Angeles folk scenes, Beck's stature as an independent artist was cemented by college radio programmers. While terms like "alternative" came to mean next to nothing, Beck's 12" version of "Loser," released on the Bongload label, became an underground hit. The music he makes on MELLOW GOLD is an unruly synthesis of Americana, completely devoid of cliches as Beck stumbles on one fresh idea after another with a rare sense of discovery. At any given moment you might hear an Indian raga ("Steal My Body Home"), chicken-fried hip-hop ("Loser" and "Soul Suckin Jerk"), a John Lee Hooker/Rolling Stones shuffle ("Fuckin' With My Head"), post-modernist noise ("Mutherfuker") or echoes of down-home blues ("Blackhole").
Beck makes his diverse range of sources on MELLOW GOLD work. Each song sounds lived-in and alive, all run hurdy-gurdy through the meat-grinder of an original sensibility, fashioned with grow-your-own power and spirit on a humble 8-track recorder in his producer's living room. "Soul Suckin Jerk" is a freedom ...

| | Climax Blues Band Plays On CD (1969) (Import) Remastered; Germany
Hated On Mostly songs
$23.65 Following on from the hard-hitting blues of their debut album, Plays On caught the Climax Chicago Blues Band in somewhat transitional waters, testing any number of different musical styles, but never really setting on any. Certainly the funk thump that characterized their better later work was still an idea waiting to be explored, as the group instead fluttered between the scurrying jazz of the opening "Flight," the psychedelic tinge of "Hey Baby, Everything's Gonna Be Alright Yeh Yeh Yeh," the semi-Santana fusion of "Cubano Chant," and the heavy blues of "So Many Roads," all interrupted by "Mum's the Word," a dynamic Moog sequence that builds out of the theme from 2001, and then freefalls ...
