| | Harry Kapeliaris Return CD Harry Kapeliaris Discography of CDs
Harry Kapeliaris – ReturnMusicMirror Records has recently released the second CD by guitarist/composer Harry Kapeliaris titled “Return” featuring ten instrumental compositions. In this work, the guitarist employs his skill on the instrument in the service of expression and composition rather than focusing on guitar chops alone. The melodies may be classified as fusion but also dwell in the wider ethnic region of the Mediterranean. Recent years have seen the emergence of a fusion movement in the region of Greece, a movement which has also undoubtedly been fueled by the arrival of major artists in the field of fusion for concerts and seminars. At the same time, Greek musicians make their strong presence in the domestic and international arena showcasing their works and musicianship. The record was completed with the collaboration of the following musicians: Harry Boutselakis – bass, Chris Basios – keyboards, Nikos Saleas – clarinet, Theodore Goumas – drums, Bob Tsilivigos – saxophone, and guest guitarists Thanasis Giokas, Theodore Ziras and Derryl Gabel from the US.A diverse collection of instrumentals from a talented composer.Release – May 2006 Return Music | Category | Jazz Albums | | Label | CD Baby | | CD Universe Part number | 7318879 | | Catalog number | 106669 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Aug 01, 2006 |

$20.39 Even though Frida Hyvnen sings in American English, with a voice like something between Laura Veirs' and Jenny Lewis', and plays sweet, poppy songs reminiscent of Laura Nyro or Burt Bacharach, there's something about her that reflects her native Sweden. Maybe it's the often sparse, straightforward piano, maybe it's her voice, crackling yet still strong, like spring ice on ponds, maybe it's the lines like "The smell of winter made me sick for love," from "N.Y," or maybe it's just an intangible quality that rests quietly within her phrasing ...
| | Marcus Big Band Green Every Breath CD (2006)
Return
$14.15 This is a surprise - a British Big Band that really swings playing a collection of today's finest worship songs. It's worship music, but not as we know it! The Marcus Green Big Band was formed in 2004 to experiment with using big band music in the contemporary worship scene. Band leader Marcus Green has led worship at St Aldate's Oxford, St Michael's Aberystwyth and with New Wine Cymru, as well as playing in the Holy Trinity Brompton (the Alpha Church) band; he has also sung with the Byron Jones Big Band, Wales' finest, and the world famous British big band The Syd Lawrence Orchestra. But now he has used all that experience to produce something we think is amazing.Bringing together the finest jazz musicians from the small church that he pastors in South Wales, and combining them with some of the best professional jazz musicians in England, Marcus Green has created a unique worship album. It's Matt Redman meets Frank Sinatra, it's Vineyard as if arranged by Billy May, it swings and it sways and it pulls you up to God via the dancefloor. Marcus himself takes most of the vocals with all the confidence of a guy whose life revolves aound these songs and this music. But there are also excellent guest spots from the pure-voiced Carolyn Turnidge, who also sang with Marcus' early 1990s band the Groove Heroes, and from Dove Award winner Tim Hughes on two of his own songs.Tim Hughes first became part of the set up when Marcus spoke at Soul Survivor and Passion For Your Name conferences in England, as well as a lecture visit to Asbury Seminary in Kentucky, following the publication of Marcus' book on worship and the cross, Salvation's Song. The style was new for Tim, but the heart for worship was familiar, and that was what mattered. Plus, says Tim, "the musicianship is incredible!" Track lsiting:Jesus ...

| | Laurent Fourgo Half & Half/Moitie-Moitie CD (2006)
Return
$13.15 This CD, Half and Half / Moitié-Moitié has its roots in the music of the past, but the sound is really current. This recording was a natural transition for me after performing Pop Jazz tunes at local public venues in Northern California. Being French, I naturally chose French tunes that became Jazz and Pop Standards in the US.Despite the fact I was singing them half in French, half in English, I noticed that most of the time, audiences didn’t know they were originally French! This is a way for me to pay tribute to those who created these beautiful tunes that generations have been enjoying. As an artist, I’ve been inspired and influenced by musicians such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, but also icons like Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson and George Michael. This CD is the result of these influences. The CD is also a bridge between 2 cultures, 2 countries: France & the United States. Even though most were hits in their English version: The Good Life from Tony Bennett; What Now My Love, Frank Sinatra; C'est si Bon, Dean Martin; Autumn Leaves, Nat King Cole; Beyond the Sea, Bobby Darin; all the songs on this CD are of French origin. Finally, this CD is my way of thanking the United States, a country that opened its arms to me. My time in this country has been one of discovering, learning and growing as a man and artist by meeting many wonderful people. My life has been filled with dreams since I was a little boy in Paris. Some have been fulfilled, some are yet to come!BioBORN IN PARIS, FRANCE, Laurent Fourgo grew up in the southwest suburb of Paris and began studying the saxophone, then the oboe before deciding that singing would be his main instrument. One person who encouraged his interest in music was his father, an avid fan of all the early American Rock’n’Roll music of the Fifties and Sixties masters such as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, Fats Domino, and Jerry Lee Lewis. "I think Papa had every recording Elvis Presley ever made and I tried to learn as many as I could."Another influence was his paternal grandmother who’s been a passionate singer since childhood. She’s been singing for friends and family all the hits from before and after the Second World War. While spending summer vacations every year in the South West of France, Laurent had the opportunity to listen to tunes from the 30s, 40s and 50s that he would have never heard without being around his grandmother. She told him that his grandfather (who died before he had a chance to get to know him) was also a singer, as well as an accordionist. “Singing was in my blood – there was no way to avoid it!” said Laurent. After starting his first band during his military duties and getting his Masters in Business in the southwest of France, America would be his destination. “Since age 10, I knew I wanted to live in the US: the desire possibly inspired by movies and music ...
